Jeez... I have been ignoring the Skaven rumours, partially because a lot of the rumours turn into pages of bickering and end up untrue anyway, and partially because after the last Skaven book I am somewhat worried about what GW is going to do with them. Wait until november, and even then they will suffer from the 'new army is cheese' problem for a couple months before their true power is actually guaged. At least it will probably take the heat off the humble cold blooded ones. :)

I don't know anything yet about the new skaven rumors, but I hope GW doesn't cheese them up too much.

About lizardmen cheese, I'd have to say that were not a cheesy army at all. Sure you can have a composition of a slann and double EoTG or a triple EoTG or such list. But almost any army can try hard and seem cheesy.

I'd actually say Lizardmen are one of the most balanced and versatile 7th edition armies. Even though we have some weaknesses in certain areas, we have the tools to get just about any job done. Certain things are still very hard to handle, but not impossible.

I think we have a nice balance of "need to be smart" and "flat out tough".

Thats why I picked Lizardmen. :D

In tournament stats lizardmen are tough but arn't up there with Daemons or WoC.

    Don't worry about it.

I have trouble with WOC. It seems all they need to do to beat us (this is just from limited experience) they just need to touch us. Last game i had, i have 2 blcoks of 18 Saurus, and an eually thretening (fear causing) unit of TG. They got touched, they died... over and over...

Skaven are always going to be a tough army to beat.

I mean jesus, if you plop down 250 models on the battlefield even a Bloodthirster or a star dragon is going to have trouble fighting that.

Lizardmen arn't cheesy, they're a solid army, but certainly not over powered. If people say that they should go play Daemons.

You are correct in a way, but with the new Skaven book, Skaven are going to be matching up with the courage of Aenarion. Literally. Freakin' leadership 9 or 10 from rats?

They have this new special rule called strength in numbers. For every rank they have in a unit thats how many you add to the LD excluding the first rank. So 5 more ranks is LD 10.

Umm.... that's not new and that's not how it works.

They can't get a rank bonus beyond +3 unless they have a rule that says otherwise, and that rule is dependent on rank bonuses not just ranks, ranks is a descriptive informal like "columns", it is not a keyword like "trample" in magic. "Rank bonuses" lets them add up to +3 to their leadership, so yeah, they go up to 8 when they are piled deep, but shooting them lots can quickly make it drop, and flanking them means they get nothing to their LD. Further, in the old book they could take their general's LD and add the ranks on top of it, which let them get up to 9 or ten from a lord general, but only on ranked units, and skaven tend to have a lot of skirmishers....

I personally think that skaven aren't gonna be that menacing against lizardmen, since we are less likely to panic from their pew pew crap. We also don't have to worry about their dumb monsters and harassment on the flanks, because normal boring skinks can handle both problems. Seriously, just a unit of 20 skinks in non-skirmish formation will ruin a rat-giants day, and soak str 6 ap bullets better then Warriors of chaos, and for 5 points instead of 16.
