8th Ed. Lizardmen Comp Rules

Seemed like a reasonable place to post this.
Upcoming tourney put these restrictions on players for a 2400 pts list

Lizardmen
*Salamanders 0 – 3 models per army.
*Higher State of Consciousness and the Crown of Command may not be taken on the same model.
*Scar Veterans are 0 – 2 models per army.
*Skink Cohorts (regular skinks, skirmisher) are 0 – 3 units per army. Cohorts containing Kroxigor do not count towards
the cap.
*0-2 Chameleon Skink Units
*Only two of the following may be taken per army – Beclaming Cogitation, Cube of Darkness, Dispel Scroll, Cupped
Hands.

Warriors of Chaos
*Maximum of one warshrine only

Virtually no comp rules on the other races (there was a no teclis no book of hoeth and some max 1 hydra 1 abomb etc)

Feels like the tourney organizer has had some issues with lizzy players in the past.
 
Yea I saw these ECT rules, they definately don't want Lizes to win.
 
Yeah they are considered a top tier army at my local, which is rubbish.

They have even banned Tetto'eko a uncomming So Cal tourny.

So he basically wants you to run your Slann in a block of Temple Guard. Not a deal breaker for me, but is it really that much of a problem?

*Scar Veterans are 0 – 2 models per army.
Limiting basic heroes? They are not THAT good.

*Skink Cohorts (regular skinks, skirmisher) are 0 – 3 units per army. Cohorts containing Kroxigor do not count towards the cap.
Not a deal breaker for me, but why don't we force a cookie cutter build on the player. Sounds like the problem is not the LM, but other players not being able to deal with skirmishers and crying about it.

Don't really see a point in taking more, but even then...

You can deal with it, but really, it is a bit much.

Over all each one of these is not too bad by itself, but the organizers clearly have a bias against LM. Personally I would probably just skip that tourney.
 
It doesn't matter how they try to screw over the LM. They are still one of the top tier armies. Sure ban Cupped Hands. I will just take life.
 
Make sure you ask the TO repeatedly to point out on the doll where the big bad lizard touched him.
 
Wait, only 2 Cupped Hands? Magic item, only allowed one anyway.

On topic;

Lol, this doesn't gimp us at all.

- Only three Salamanders: Boo hoo, did diddums get his army rolled by a Sally spam list? Three is still plenty to burninate most infantry down to size.
- Higher State not with Stubborn Crown: Higher State gets sniped by magic and magic weapons, Crown is for noobs. Again, could not care less
- Only two Scar-Vets: Cool, I only take two anyway.
- Only three blowpipe units: Oh noes. Cool, I use the points of the fourth unit to add some bodies to the other three. Same damage output, just slightly less efficient body spread. I'm still not taking more than two Saurus blocks anyway
- Only two Camo Skinks: Who uses three units of these guys?
- Pick only two: Cool, I pick Cupped Hands and Becalming

Srsly, you can still field a power list with these restrictions. Laughable if they think this gimps us in any way

I do at 2500. Handy for taking out gunlines, monsters, ogres, and other annoyances (and if I don't have a good spot for the third it makes for an awesome screen, just "scout" them a couple of inches in front of my TG). I find the ability to march and double tap at long range as well as the extra -1 to hit with shooting worth the points increase over regular skink skirmishers. On the other hand, I could drop or exchange the third unit and not really notice it, so your point still stands.
 
So did VC get anything taken away via these rules. They are the cheeses cheese there is
 
Why all the comp for LM and WFB in general? Have people come to the conclusion that the game is too imbalanced, or are the players simply too lazy plan for some of these threats?

Part of the issue with our current book (aside from not being written for 8th) I think, is that the answer to most of our problems seems to be "do x with a slann".
Maybe they should try running blocks of I1 troops without a guy who can shut down the magic phase, and see how that works out.
 
The big one I don't like is the pick 2 of 4 one.

I hate running without a scroll because one init test template and your done for.

And if you make it so I can't take cupped hands I'm gonna have to roll with life.

The only one I feel a little bad about taking is Becalming, man its amazing.
You get within range of theyir level 4 and its over for them, they always fail to cast something and lock themselves out in the first couple spells.
 
Crap like this makes me glad that in my area we play zero comp, full BRB rules and scenarios. The problem is, the comp crowd is still living in the past, wanting to play their 7th Ed. lists and play style.
