Hi!

It is the first time I start a painting blog!

I felt I needed that to keep me motivated as I am starting to paint the miniatures I didn't have the guts to paint about 15 years ago. Thanks to GW my miniatures are, for the most, still up to date...

I also bought a few second hand models last year, when I jumped back into the hobby, so you will se some square and round bases altogether... And I don't mind. If I go the competitive way I might look for some way to fit a round adapter.

Anyway I strugled to find a good color scheme for my skinks (maybe you noticed my thread back then).

I tried some on those sacrificial handlers :

It needed some few adjustments so I gave it a new try :

That's it! this will be my color scheme for my skinks!

I also tried an other variation around this one :

Those with the red crest could be the alpha.

Now I have to find a scheme for the saurus. And paint loads of lizards! :D

For the saurus I saw this post :

Nearly there :) only basing left

Let me know what you think.

Gr, Imrahil

I loved that scheme at first sight! So thanks @Imrahil for the inspiration!

Here is my try :

Still have to do the freehand on the shield but I think a need to practice a bit before trying that. But I like how he came out.
He may need a bit more contrast on the dark blue scales.

What do you think of it?

Great work, he looks need! Glad to serve as an inspiration :angelic:

Nice subtle highlights :artist:
Did you use shades?

The gold looks a bit mono-color to me, maybe a shade and highlight extra.

Keep up the good work ;)

Grrr, Imrahil

Oh! Good point for the gold!
I washed with seraphim sepia but I forgot to highlight it

For the blue I used contrast paint, but I still feel it lacks... well... contrast...

Maybe I will pre-shade the scales with a black wash, with the contrast paint's transparency it might do the trick.

Hi!

I managed to paint more saurus! A whole unit actually !

Here is a little closeup on one of them :

I must say that I really hate my 15 year old self for glueing the shield on every single saurus... Such a pain to paint!

Now I have make a small unit of skinks and base them all!

Nicely done, that unit looks great :artist:

Shields is a PITA but feels good when they are painted ;)
Made the same mistake on mine, still got 12 to paint... (30 year old me did it exactly the same )

Grrr, Imrahil

Good job!
You even painted the eyes.
I have eyes on my Skinks but not on my Saurus.

Hello!

Made some progress! I pledged to paint a unit of saurus and one of skinks and to base them all.

And I did it! I know it may not seem to be much, but I tend to lack consistancy.

So here are the skinks and saurus pre-basing :

I have to say painting skinks was nice but really time consuming, especially considering they die by a dozen...

And here they are with the basing done :

20200325_132042.jpg 20200325_132303.jpg

I even managed to paint a few extra skinks whom will be used as handler proxy.

Feel free to comment !
