Hi all, i played a game against my friends WoC earlier, and got smashed. Everyone says its because of lack of terrain. We have no fantasy terrain, and nothing to use (long time 40K players.) So, i'm going off into the city tomorrw and maybe sunday.

I was wondering, what can/should i buy to make into terrain, and how to i make it errain-ie.

NOTE: I have "only" $60 (Australian,) so i have a "limited" budet.

Thanks for reading.

Check that out. You can make about a thousand bamboo trees for about five bucks.

Another one that might be helpful if you want to make some water features.

Ah, thank you! All i need to do now is find time to watch them...

Wow, I love that Bamboo terrain. I'm going to make some :)

Thanks asrodrig. :D

OK, this'll probably sound... noobish... but what should i abtually put them on?

Anything that's flat and hard.
...
NO, drop that piece of cardboard! Cardboard bends...

Cheers!

Masonite, Polystyrene, or thick hard plasticard (I've used a CD before) work the best.

you can get away with cardboard... you need to paint both sides of it though, if it wants to bend both ways it ends up back flat in the middle. :D But yeah in any case it isn't really the best material unless its all you have.

Do you mean the foam? Because we have "tonnes" of it - atleast alot more then anything else i'm likely to get. I'm also presuming, it'll be a pain in the as.... er... frustrating to cut?

It is for me... :shamefullyembarrased:

White packing foam is hardly worth using... It falls apart way too easily. You can get pink compressed foam which holds its shape better, or oyu can get foam cutters which rather than being sharp they heat up the foam so melt it into itself. Foam is hard to work with, you will definitely want to seal it with something as soon as possible. Keeping in mind it melts under spray paint and probably a whole bunch of other sealants.

In summary, I'd rather deal with cardboard warping than white foam..

Ok, so no white foam. Then what is a material i can get easily, and that works? I really don't have any idea what the prices, avalibility, or even location of these things are (location only because i live out in the "country" area, and haave no idea where a DIY store is.) So, i am completely at the guidance of you all.

It maay also be useful to know that i have got the materials to make my terrain (bamboo trees) except for the base, so as soon as i get that, i can comence building, and, maybe, if i can find my camera, get pics up.

Thanks for all your help so far, and i hope you can bear with me for a little longer.

EDIT: Ok, so i just watched that bamboo movie for like the 7th time. Are those skewers seriously not ridged/grooved? I honestly thought they were, and was fretting about mine not having the grooves....

Do you know of any construction sites nearby?
I know from people online who have used it that it can be found in LOADS on construction sites.
Just ask for the stuff, probably pay some money(obviously) and then just get going with the work.
Have fun! :D

Cheers!

Unfortunatly, nope. This town/country/remote-area-that-happens-to-have-life hasn't had a building since i've been here (about 3-4 years now.)
