8th Ed. Looking at Lizards

I am wraping up my WoC army (box of warriors and a box of maraudets to go) so im looking for my next army, I love to paint so I am going to need a new project soon. Hence I am looking at lizards. I have quite a few questions so hopfuly I can get at least a few of them answered.
First, what is your favorite fig/unit in the army? This is just the model not what it does.
The rest of my questions are.
Which is better, old bloods or scar veterans? I want to put one of the two in a coldone unit.
How strong would you run a unit of coldone riders? And is it a bad idea or even possible to feild 2 units of them?
What is a good size for sarus blocks? I am currently thinking 25 strong. And spears or hw on them?
And is it a bad idea to run 3-4 units of 10 skink skirmishers.

For me my fav model has to be the Chakax model. as for Saurus i run them 30 strong with hand weps (parry is a great thing) and i think 3 units of Skinks is a good number to run.

Painting the lizzies will be very fun so i hope you have a grand ol'time!!

Canasaur, it just pure bad ass.

well the old blood is better as he has better stats and can hold more gear,
the scar vet on the other hand is quite a bargain and is quite good for his points

I want to put one of the two in a coldone unit.

Usually I run them in units of 5-7 often with a mounted scarvet

And is it a bad idea or even possible to feild 2 units of them?
I don't see why not, probably better in bigger games tho.

anywhere from 20-50 Usually hand weapon troops are 5 wide and spear units 6 wide.

And spears or hw on them?
Either, both have different roes.

And is it a bad idea to run 3-4 units of 10 skink skirmishers.

I personally like Kroxigor. The 5ed and 8ed ones are the best. There was a weird phase where GW made some skinny, snake-looking models that I was appalled to see. Carnosaurs are awesome as well.

Like n810 said, an Oldblood is just a beefed up Scar-Vet. I generally use an Oldblood for my Lord choice in smaller battles and back him up with couple Priests if it's possible.

As for Spears vs Hand Weapons, it really depends on what you are needing. You get a 6+ ward save with HW but can fight in 3 ranks with spears. Spears against squishy targets, HW against things that consider your Saurus squishy.

My favorite model (and the one that attracted me to LM) is the BSB. Coolest looking BSB in the game IMHO.

My favourite figure is the slann. Such a mighty toad!

I think scar vets are nice for their price.

I think 25 saurus is quite a good size, I field them 5x5. Of course the more the better. But 25 seem like a nice survivable number.
I fit my saurus with Hand weapon and shield. 1 rank of extra attacks doesn't beat 6+ ward save in my book.

I would take 2 units of skink skirmisher and 2 units of camo skinks.
