Talking of which... yesterday I finished making a couple more!

These ones are Phobos Assault Tripods, melee Enlightened Tripod variants. While the Mars Tripods will be sitting back and evaporating enemy forces with their Heat Rays, these will be racing forward to use their arrays of grim tools to get to work in cutting into and dissecting human troops and vehicles alike, in between releasing toxic clouds of Black Smoke from the proboscis-like emitters sticking out from their heads.
You've been busy. Good work my friend. What kind of base are you going to give them?

Those are looking really good!
They are intended to be Mars Battle Tripods for the Enlightened faction in the 10mm Steampunk mass battle game Armoured Clash, though my own design for them based around the Legions Imperialis Dark Mechanicum Stalker Constructs kit, with the intention of making them more closely resemble the Martian Tripods from The War of the Worlds, specifically the artistic interpretation of them depicted on the Jeff Wayne album:

That's a cool concept. It looks pretty badass.

Thank you both :)

The basing will follow my normal Graveyard Earth/Steel Legion Drab plus grass, to reflect the English countryside the Martians are invading, but for these I also plan to add some bright red reindeer moss to serve as the Red Weed, the vegetation that gives Mars its red colouration in the lore of the War of the Worlds, so that it is creeping along behind the tripods, terraforming (or should that be mars-iforming?) Earth itself and consuming its vegetation, just as the Martians hunt down and consume its human inhabitants.

That's a cool concept. It looks pretty badass.

You should look up and listen to the original album with that cover art... it, along with the original Victorian novel that inspired it, remain cornerstones of the modern science-fiction genre. The vast majority of alien invasion stories can trace their ancestry in some way or form back to The War of the Worlds, which is still the original and best.

I must apologise for my extreme laziness in updating my blog. Work, life and hobby activities have kept me very busy of late. However, I am happy to update you all on the things I've been up to.

To start with, I had been intending to keep this chap a secret until I had got round to painting him, but as that will be a good long way away yet, I thought I'd introduce him to you now.

Meet the Sleeper in the Wood, my Jabberslythe conversion!

Built pretty much entirely from spares from my bitz box, and a while load of Green Stuff to keep it all together, and add some particularly unnerving fleshy texture to him :D. Not only was it extremely rewarding to get him right after taking a good long time planning how all the parts would go together, but he was also an unholy amount cheaper than the GW model... and looks a lot better I think :p

If you can name all the different kits I took bitz from to make him, I'll give you an extra like ;)

And I have also been continuing to indulge in the Steampunk world of Armoured Clash - firstly through building and painting another decrepit and grimy house...

And on my Birthday I was very kindly gifted with an Introductory Set for the game (for the Crown... huzzah and hurrah!), so I have been putting together some of the official plastic models too, including a pair of Galahad Medium Tanks:

Along with some Horse Guard cavalry (Household Cavalry on robotic horses) and some Black Watch Dragoon walkers:

And have been able to confirm that my scratch-built creations scale very nicely with them:

You remember I began work on building my Armoured Clash Crown models a while back? Now the first lot of them are fully painted!

A Basic unit of six bases of Riflemen to serve as a Command Platoon, and a pair of Galahad Medium Tanks. Really pleased with the results Contrast paints yielded on these models, and how quickly I was able to get them looking spick and span - only around 4 Saturdays and a Sunday's worth of afternoons.

These will be but the first of many heroic men and women of Her Majesty's Army that sally forth to protect British Imperial domains against threats both human and extraterrestrial.

They look really great @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl . Cool little models. I really like the colors you used for the tank.

Lovely! I like how you managed to obtain some good level of details also on the infantry unit

Thank you kindly, good sir :pompus:. With these I still couldn't resist adding a few little details here and there like the moustaches on the gentleman soldiers, but at the same time I resisted the urge to paint all the trim on the jackets and the crossbelts the usual white to save a lot of faff. At least some regiments had red crossbelts and no trim on their jackets anyway (if the artwork adorning my bedroom bin of all things is worth its salt), so I could afford to avoid some extra work with no dent to my conscience.

And thank you, kind sir :pompus:. The tanks themselves were painted principally with Leadbelcher, and then washed heavily with Blood Angels Red Contrast paint (the same shade also used on the jackets of the Riflemen), to colour them a proper British red but also retain some of the metallic shine from the metal undercoat. It also makes them look a little darker and less gaudy than the Riflemen, fitting for a serious armoured vehicle. The tracks and funnels were painted with Iron Warriors and washed with Nuln Oil to look like metal lacquered with black (and then drybrushed with Mournfang Brown to muddy them), and the gold filigree was rendered with the wonderful Retributor Armour. If there is one thing I can thank AoS for, it is encouraging GW to make a gold paint as excellent as this one.
