I had forgotten about that rule until recently and I used it to decent effectiveness still a lot of points in hero’s to pull it off since you need the astrolith and skink wizards too but I think it has some play.

This can definitely be useful. But our Skink wizards are so fragile that anything that attacks them can and probably will kill them. If you use one as a channeling focus for Kroak's magic, you're going to get maybe one turn before your opponent blows that Skink off the board in their next shooting or combat phase.

If your opponent knows that's what you're planning on doing, they'll simply target the Skink before you get even one turn of use out of that ability. This is why GW hiked the Troglodon's price so much, because he can channel Kroak's magic from anywhere on the board and can't always be shot to death in one turn. Kroak was the single most hated and complained about unit in AoS 2e before his new model and rules came out. They really wanted to nerf the range on his AOE blast as much as possible.

Definitely. Most of the games I’ve played recently have been with thunderlizards and I run a few skink heros in the list but nobody blinks at them because they’re worried about everything else. So maybe it won’t work well or very often but when you can catch your opponent flat footed and drop celestial deliverance 3 times from a relatively safe distance it will definitely be a shock to your opponent.

I never played kroak In 2nd so I really don’t know just how effective he was besides seeing him do work in batreps. My local group is more worried about salamanders so they don’t realize I have just as much damage potential from other sources as well. I’ll let you guys know how it plays out when I try my new list out.

tom guan just won a GT down in austin with the Kroak + 3 ark build that Darren has been terrorizing england with (think he's 25-0 across 4 or 5 events?)

So basically, yeah, Kroak's good :)
