Hey guys, we've been mentioned on the Mantic Blog! The competition is going well. Hope everyone is getting close to finishing, remember the deadline is just under a week away!

Make sure you take the time to make nice, clear photos. Use sunlight, or try to setup a bright white light above the model. The camera flash can help if it isn't too close, but don't let it flood the model with light. Ensure your background is plain so the camera will focus on your model and not anything behind, and unless you are using the macro setting keep the camera at least 20cm from the model. Good luck in the final week of painting!

PS, its not too late to join but remember you need to an unpainted photo with a piece of paper showing the current date, and you will have to be a speed painter to get a unit done in a week!

i am on holiday until the 12th so i wont be able to take pictures. can we start the voting on the sunday instead please so i can get mine in and have a fair chance of getting votes?

I won't be able to finish my unit (started working), sorry guys..

I'm five away from the end of mine, I hope I have time. Question do the pics have to be in to you by before 12am on the 11th or before 12 am on the 10th.

Finished my Spider Riders today after a big day to get the last 4 models done. They still aren't based though and I doubt I'll have time to base them before time runs out, too busy with work :( Oh well. I could also spend a few more hours touching up details, but I wont :p

I'm going to be working right up until the deadline most likely. The bulk of the colours are done but I still have much detail left to paint which is very time consuming.

The deadline is the 12th, which is the friday. It is due at the end of friday not the start. For lizardninja, try to get photos in ASAP. I will probably not get time to make a thread until either the sunday (14th) or the monday. This means friday will have definitely passed no matter what timezone you are in and entries will still be accepted, up to the point I make the thread.

Hi

I just got back from a vacation so hopefully i will be able to finish. Looking forward to seeing everyone's work.

For once I borrowed someone's proper camera to take pictures of my miniatures instead of using camera phones and wow the pictures came out really well. A lot of detail I thought would be hidden has showed up in the pictures, and some detail I wish was hidden has appeared too, lol.

Do you mind if I send you a couple of pictures before Friday, then if you haven't made the thread by the weekend send a second couple to replace the first? Its just I know I wont have time to base the models before Friday, but I might be able to find some time over the weekend to do them.

Its all due today guys! Thanks to those who have submitted already, I might not be able to put up a thread until near the end of the weekend but we shall see. I'll post pictures in the order that they were submitted so those that got them in early get noticed first.

Rules:
1) Each participant will send a picture of the unpainted unit at the beginning of the contest to Strewart. It can be primed.
2) The unit you pick to paint must respect minimal/maximal unit size.
3) Infantry, cavalry, monstrous infantry and monstrous cavalry are allowed. No monsters or monstrous beasts can be entered.
4) Pictures of the painted unit must be sent to Strewart before August 12. Voting will open on the 13th and will last a week.

thanks mate i've done that. I really need to read everything next time :P

Pictures away! I think the hardest thing was narrowing it down to 2 photos. It's tough to show a whole unit (even a small one) with only 2 pics.

Good luck to all, and thanks to Strewart and SeBM for running this contest.

I must say I'm really looking forward to look upon everyone's work!!! This second Lustria-Online Painting Challenge is very exciting and it's good to see that so many members decided to join the fun!!!! I really think we will be able to keep this as a recurring event as our community continues to grow!!!

Hopefully, next time, I'll end up participating in something I help organize :D xD.

Definitely, while painting I was thinking of all the angles I wanted to capture the detail and in the end had to decide on only 2 angles to show it all. All part of the challenge I suppose :)
