m0gstar's space lizards paint thread - painting motivation station

I have a project out with schnauzerface minis right now. Andrew is absolutely amazing and has some great videos up. I also watch next level painting . Kenny uses airbrushes a lot, so I learn a lot from him.

Will post some pics later tonight about to get rocking and rolling.

I'm most scared of color theory because I have a total of 2.2 artistic genes in my entire genome. We will see how it goes though !

I thought this same thing when I first started. Since I sucked at painting and anything besides stick figures. But with some time and effort you do get better! :)

OK gentlemen and maybe ladies ?? Got first round of airbrushing done. Established a few colors and a basic highlight, gonna throw a wash on em and call it a night while it dries.

Sorry lighting sucks. Used only Vallejo model air paints here . I ordered 51 Vallejo game air paints to prove my dedication! So hopefully I'll get more comfortable with all this!

Skin is green tones and scales are a blue grey as of right now

I watch next level painting as well, also look at "buypained".
I have a rule I try to stick too, 5 colours per model, you can use different shades of a colour but I try to keep to 5 so they don't look to busy

I'm going to jump on the "start a blog" train. Even better, start one with a friend. Make a commitment to each other to post on the same day every week (each guy gets a day). It's kind of like working out: tough to motivate yourself sometimes, but hard to say no and let down a friend. Once you start getting a few readers (and from what little I've seen of your work so far, you won't have trouble), then you really feel like you HAVE to get something done every week.
My blog kept me going religiously for 2.5 years before my buddy and I had to take a break as life took over. Now it's motivating both of us to get back at it.

Here is update. Skin finished and I based and washed the rest of the parts minus eyes.. I spilled my ushtabi bone color so I had to use it :(

Coming along!

Pretty successful paint party this afternoon . I certainly spend a lot more time painting individuals than my friends do!

Gave some edge highlights and eyeballs to the cold ones. Might just call it a day there since they are not super important models. Just need to base and maybe do a small amount of drybrush.

I blocked in base colors on oldblood and skink chief (minus feather).

Also posting up a kroxigor I finished a couple of weeks back. Camera flash makes him look a little more extreme than he is irl.

I'll migrate them over to a real paint blog thread once I finish next unit :) thanks for all your support!

That looks really good! only thing you should do now, is change the name of this thread to something like "m0gstar's painting blog" or "Painting motivation? No Problem!!"... ;)
I like your cold ones... might steal this colors! ;)

They look great and you don't need any more for tabletop, spend more time on characters, start the blog!

The cold ones look amazing! I really like the colour scheme! The oldblood and skink chief look great and that Kroxigor looks epic! Probably the lighting but just looks awesome!

Thanks guys. I'll try to keep posting progress on the other projects. My game color lime should be coming in the mail this week, so I may be quiet u til I see all the colors from that. :)

Offtopic - but for Christmas I tried my hand at working with LEDs and converting a starter set dwarf flame cannon, using a ripperdactyl head on the front. Disguised the battery / switch parts inside of the plastic "fuel" barrel and obviously ran the wiring through the hoses in through the sides of the barrel where I soldered on the LED inside of the barrel. Simple cotton for the smoke.

That ripper head looks fantastic on the cannon. You have done an amazing job here.
