Malign Portents

Man I hope they fix the Deathlords, Deathmages and Nighthaunt problems with the new book. Outside of a Grand Alliance Death army it is so hard to combine those nicely.

This book here will supposely tie all the Death factions together, besides Flesh eater courts.

Also I am excited that they implied there will be new Death models coming.
Both Nighthaunt and Deathrattle could use some models to fill additional roles.

...still hoping for those Chariots and Bone Giants and Skeleton Archers (on foot or on horses). Maybe even artillery of some sort...

Meh, start by combining them. All of em combined make a halfway decent army with most of their foot soldiers getting back up constantly. It's enough of a gimmick to build an army around. New stuff is a tad less needed if they just combine.

You're already an agent of chaos, how is that less bad than playing AoS :p
In more ways than you can possibly fathom!

Also you should play AoS so you can kick those golden boys in their golden behinds.
I am doing that and having a lot of fun in the process. :D
He has a point, who's going to put the SCE in their place if not you @NIGHTBRINGER

In my own personal fluff... the End Times was averted, and the SCE never came into being. That is good enough for me.

I fled 40K due (partially) to the overemphasis placed on Space Marines. Now GW has force fed them into fantasy. I shall remain on my untainted island of 8th Edition. Unless of course someone like Bill Gates takes me up on my $2,000,000 bribe!

if I can fathom, then why don't you just tell me so I both fathom and know? :P

That's a cowards solution, are you not a glorious slann of the second spawning? What would the old ones say if they saw this is how you fullfill their plan ;)

Do you really want me to list all the ways that AoS sucks (in my opinion)? I'm trying not to rip into the game that so many people on the forum enjoy. :angelic:

I think the old ones would approve. AoS is a travesty and I have managed to avert it. What's the point of killing SCE when they just return? This Slann made sure they never existed at all. An elegant solution for a more civilized age!

You suggest that I sink to their level to fight them, I choose to rise above them. They are not even worth my attention on the battlefield.

Ignoring them isn't a solution, it's what people with severe problems do. They ignore them and say everything is fine untill it's all too late and the next thing you know they're an alcoholic, or worse; play SCE. You can't just hide in a make believe world :P

I didn't ignore them. I created lore for 4 different Slann that come together to eliminate them from the timeline.

If you don't like lore, how about we examine things from a different angle:
  • Why do SCE exist?... because GW makes money off of them.
  • From whom does GW make this money?... AoS players.
  • If no one played AoS, what would happen to SCE? GW would discontinue them.

So you see, I am the one fighting against the SCE. If everyone followed in my example, the SCE would be no more. It is you (and others with your mind set) that are enabling their existence.

To use your analogy, the best way to combat one's alcoholism is to disengage from drinking. That is exactly what I am doing with SCE. Your solution seems to be to dive further into it.

You can't just hide in a make believe world :p
You do realize that all of this is a fictitious make belief world, right? :D

Well you're no fun.... using such a mundane approach.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if it'd be more effective to buy your prefered army. They have enough of a fan-base that 1 person not buying it isn't going to be noticable. However, buying stuff from another faction might push that faction just far enough to finally get some love. Now preferably go and kick some ass in a tournament, make your preferred army FoTM causing it to spike in popularity, and the shamed SCE to drop, and suddenly it might actually have an effect at GW's headquarters ;)

Sssh, I never make any ironic statements :p

I agree that one person will make little difference, but that is all that is within my power. Just like an election, I only count as a single vote, but that doesn't mean that I should refrain from casting it. In this case, that would be a vote of no confidence.

In regards to buying stuff for other factions, one person buying will also go unnoticed. My purchases will have little effect on the final outcome. Besides, my interests are solely in 8th Edition Warhammer Proper; so unless they are releasing models that directly tie into that, I couldn't care less which factions receive love. To be honest, the current AoS model aesthetics are not in line with my particular tastes anyways; with a few notable exceptions (Warqueen, Lord of Change, Guant Summoner). I'm not saying that the models aren't well sculpted, but rather they are at odds with what I am personally looking for.

Now looking at the bigger picture, any money I spend will add to what is considered success by AoS, so I limit my spending on GW products.

I guess we all do! :D

Meh, it's more that if you buy faction #2 you might push your local store/community in a certain direction as well. One extra person buyinga start collecting orruk box might convince a storekeeper to stock some more orruks. AEspecially if you start winning stuff with it. That's probably the best bet you have for any real influence as an individual.. that or become some kind of influential celebrity/reviewer/writer type person. Don't just cast your vote influence those around you that SCE are stupid. Though that does require you to at least play AOS.

On a sidenote, aren't there still quite a lot of old models in use/being sold? Or have they started discontinuing/replacing most by now?

You mean we all don't? :P

For a small store that might definitely hold true. I have a really large store that is (somewhat) near by, and they are very well stocked (and offer 15% off GW prices). Plus you can order just about anything.

To be honest though, I now typically make my purchases off of Ebay.

I still maintain that the strongest voice I have is to vote with my wallet. I seldom buy stuff from GW anymore, even my with my paints I've been slowly switching over to Valllejo.

Wouldn't that be grand?! Better yet, if one could obtain Bill Gates money. In that case I would buy up all the GW stock and eradicate AoS all together. Welcome to the AoN (Age of NIGHTBRINGER). The only thing I have yet to figure out is how to obtain Bill Gates level money! :p

Though that does require you to at least play AOS.
And therein lies the problem. I'd rather spend my time playing 8th Edition or video games or go bike riding or do woodworking or surfing the web or watching a movie, etc.

Depending on the army, most of the old stuff is still available. I have three armies, of which two are very well stocked: Lizardmen and Warriors of Chaos. My recently acquired third army, Tomb Kings, is obviously fully discontinued. However, it isn't that much of an issue for me because I have pretty much all of the models I like/need for all of my armies. I have such a backlog of painting that I will admittedly never get it done... especially at my rate of painting  (right @Crowsfoot ? :p).

Rather than buying new stuff from GW, I was able to drop $450 on a complete Tomb Kings army, which is something I've wanted for quite some time. I'm actually pretty fortunate that GW discontinued them, because I ended up getting a much better deal second hand.

.

Told you before send them over I will paint some for you, I'm serious I don't know what shipping would cost but if you send them over after summer I will paint them for you.
