Forgeworld Damascion was attacked by forces of the arch enemy shortly after the great rift tore into real-spsce.
The bulk of the skittari legions raised by the world were anihillated in the assault.
It was only through the miracle of Magos Diogenus VIII uncovering the vulkite reactor device labeled the "T0ST3R" unit, and the resulting energy wave that ripped apart the advancing horses, that the Forgeworld was saved.
Consequently, the Archmagi Synod that ruled Damascion declared the vast majority of the legiones skitarrii disbanded.
To make up for this loss, the remaining Skitarius were given command and tactical data-cognition implants and set as officers and commanders. Under them, an entire hive-forge of servitors was reconfigured as battle-servitors to be used as ground troops.
Further more, a new brank of millitant monasticism known as the Brotherhood of the Cog was created to both venerate Diogenus as a living saint of the machine god and proclaim the glorious Miracle of the T0ST3R to the enemies of the Omnissiah.
