Me too. Of course it is a work of fiction, not a historical document, but (without spoiling the story): During the game the player gets to see pieces of Mayincaztec art and architecture in a way less damaged state than most of the relics and ruins we find in real life. We know that a lot of that was colorfully painted and highly skillfully crafted when it was new (there has been a lot of erosion on the things we find hundreds of years later, usually rounding many edges, destroying small details, and removing almost all paint), and the game does a great job of giving an impression of how awesome some of it probably looked when it was still taken care of.
Awesome pics! Looks like a zapotec carving, with lots of great stuff in the background too! Very pretty looking Mayan altar/carving/calendar piece!
Cool looking tomb within a cave, not sure if you went to this one yet @Aginor ? Curious to see more of that awesome looking entrance. It reminds me of the earth monster at Balamku!
Random find... "Kings of the Sun," 1964. Hollywoodized... Mayans? Aztecs? It looks like Mayans... but no actual native actors of course due to the time period. Them hats though... the costume designer must have had a field day. Yul Bryner is in it! Spoiler: Kings of the Sun
"Temples of Terror" paper terrain set. May in fact be modular. I would rather just make it out of foam myself, but cool idea.
"Mayan Hidden Worlds" Exhibit, looks like it was traveling around the country a few years ago. Never saw it sadly Spoiler: more pics
Was thinking of getting this model: Spoiler The miniatures are from Outpost Wargames and their Mayan Miniatures range. And I think recognized where the altar's inspiration came from! Beautiful work
A little bit of inspirational artwork to go along with this Mayan sacrifice diorama: Probably what the sculptor used to make the model!
