So I am working my way through the Skinks SC and standard skinks boxes, and I am thinking through my painting scheme. Does a single unit have to be the same color? Or can it be a mix of 3-4 colored skinks. I plan the uniting theme to be Fangs of Sotek so every skink will have the red crest but would it be wrong to have Teal, Green, Yellow and Brown skinks all mixed together in one large 40-skink unit?
I mean they’re your model!! You do what you want!! Most have them as one colour but some have rainbow army’s, if your planning on having different weapon option perhaps to simplify thing on deployment having them one colour per weapons equipment would help things otherwise it doesn’t matter. Could always have the Alpha a different colour... in the end you’re the painter/player/owner of those models so do what you like my friend!! Looking forward to seeing those little guys!! Cheers Egres
As Egres says, you can do whatever you like. It's a game and there are no rules that say you have to paint them a certain way. Some hobby stores or tournaments will say they have to be painted because rows of grey plastic looks lame, but you are entirely free to do whatever you think looks good. In the background, different colours reprisent different spawnings, a whole set of skinks or saurus that were tadpoles together and emerged from the same spawning pool. Usually units will be made from a single spawning, but there's no reason that skinks from several spawnings could not be grouped together if they had taken losses or the Plan demanded a larger unit one day. Or you could write your own background for why. Or just do it because they're your models and you want to. Your colours sound cool, I look forward to seeing pics of them!
