Modifications to old slann, And Q about stegadon

Hellou there!

So i have this old model of slann with 4 Temple Guards carrying him. And i was planning that if i could separate TG's from slann and give them their normal base so i could make my TG unit 20 Strong (I have 16 TG atm) and it seem's that as slann are now just "flowing" in new models above the ground slann could go perfect alone to look like these models

So i know taking those TG's off from slann base is easy and i just clue them Saurus Warrior's weapons and shield's that i have as leftover from SW:s box

But i was wondering how i make slann to look like he is hovering... Anyone have any ideas? Clueing just a pen under him looks crap :P and i dont assume they dont sell those real bases for slann separately... And how to hell im going to make him stable ( The old model got broken everytime i taked it to play while travelling.. very fragile)

Anyone have ideas and how does this idea sound ? =)

Oh and i was wondering is my slann base right size. It is now 2 SW base deep and 2 Widht

And i have this old stegadon model wich i got from friend long time ago... unlucky i didint get base for it. What is the normal base size for him? I plan to make him base or Glue together some other bases if they match right size (normal human base or SW bases)

And i was wondering too is it usually "legal" to play with old model's in tournament or models like im planning to "create" from example from these TG's? I have these old skink models too and i was wondering is it legal to use em in tournament as Skink skirmishers or skink with javels (with bows accually but i could say they have javels?)

Ok I'll have a go at answering your questions.

Yes, you can buy the plastic flying bases from GW seperately. Most people have a few stalks lying around though, you don't have any other flying models that came with spares? The GW one will come with a round base when you need a 50mm square. So yes, you have the right size base for him if it is exactly 2 TG across. If oyu don't buy the stalk from GW, a thin copper, aluminium or steel rod would work well. Or build up something underneath him like some jungle, a ruin, or asrodrig put a pile of skulls under his Slann.

I am fairly sure the Slann base is 50mm*100mm. So it is the same width as two cavalry bases, and depth of 2 cavalry bases. Get 4 of them together and you are set. Or again, GW would sell them, but not cheap.

Yep, it is perfectly fine to use old models as long as it is still very clear what they are. The bow skinks you might have to actually convert them with javelins in a tournament, but the rest will be fine.
 
You must mean the stegadon is 50mm * 100mm ? Not slann right =) ? As for rest of your answer thank you. I appreciate it :) THank you!
 
Yep, sorry. Steg is 100*50mm, Slann is 50*50mm.
 
You could give your slann a Medative Budist feel by mounting him on a nice flat rock which you could have "floating" by attaching it to a flying base. see the return of the slann post by Divinor for the effect

Check out this thread from last year for a great conversion of an old-style Slann (http://lustria-online.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3645). I've used many of these ideas for my own Slann, but mine is not quite as elaborate.
