Blog My first journey with Seraphon

Got some updates and some progress! Was able to buy the battleforce box and also an additional bastiladon+3 rippers. I’ve been hard at work on them and got some WIP pictures. Yesterday and today I tackled the scar vet on carno I have as well to round out my carno line. Have 40 skinks built and base painted. They’re gonna have to be the next project as I’ll be using them frequently and want to have them table ready. Enjoy!

Hit the mark on this guy! Spent all day yesterday playing with him. Now for some basing ideas. Thinking next to a river with some sand? Don’t want to go with the obligatory lava base plus it doesn’t really fit my base theme. Suggestions?

I didn’t like the light feet in the picture and felt the silver broke up the bronze/gold more

P.S. already have had to super glue the antenna twice so opted for no spit

Fantastic looking Troggy! The colours have turned out really well!

In terms of basing, I can definitely vouch for water and sand as it’s what I’ve done myself! @Crowsfoot has posted a brilliant tutorial here - like mine it’s more based on doing it for seas and lakes, but it would work perfectly fine for rivers as well - you just might want to do the waves parallel instead of perpendicular to the direction of the river. If you don’t want to, you don’t even have to use proper water effects paint - I just used varnish and modelling paste, and it still turned out perfectly fine, even if it’s not as realistic as @Crowsfoot’s one.

Other than that, I’d say go for it - the water should contrast nicely with your colour scheme! I look forward to seeing your results - bases always do bring a model together!

Really nice, the Yellow is nice and vibrant!

Keep up the good work.

All about that base...so much trouble ;):D

Troglodon 100% done. No more touchy touchy. Things that have happened just basing this:

Whole model fell on floor, head popped off, broke several priest pieces. Check

Resin seal had a leak. Repaired after first stuff set. Daughter touched resin and smudged it on second layer. Check

Cut wrist with razor blade touching up resin. Check

Cursed the Gods for the amount of time I spent on a unit I may not field often (please god GW make trogs buffer) check

Had a whole bunch of fun and learned a lot despite all of it. Check.
I may go out and get some water effects gel medium to get those wave effects and fix the water up a bit. But not right now.
Anywho enjoy the final pictures. I went with a river/rock motif with a side of deadly dinosaur.

For all your pain and heart ache the base came out really well. Now maybe do find a nice safe place to display it before the gods notice you again.

Some small updates. Been slaving away at detail painting lots of skinks and warriors. Started on some Terradons and am almost done with another Bastiladon (galaxy themed), started work on my EOTG, plus created a “skink” astrolith bearer. He’s going to be in the same theme as my eternity warden obviously following all the saurus rules. Just couldn’t help making a skink version. Still really rough on the astrolith as I’ve just completed getting some bits on him.

Nice idea on the Skink Astrolith Bearer ;)
Good painting on the Bastilodon, love the galaxy theme. Spot on! :artist:

Nice carnosaur and trog. And ingenious use of bits for the standard bearer!
