This is an old model, but since I don't have anything to post on my current projects, so I thought I would post some pics of my Stegadon. As you can tell, the Steg itself does not share colors with any of the other dinosaurs in the army. The way I figure it, everything is a different species, and they wouldn't all look the same. Instead, I try to maintain unity and continuity across the army through the black-and-blue colors of the skinks, saurus and krox, and by maintaining a consistent basing style.
Freehand with the blade of a sculpting tool. I wish I had thought of copying and tracing!
The mustardy color is achieved with yellow-based browns. I think it was a base of Snakebite Leather blended up into Vomit Brown, with a darker brown for shading.
Also not new, here are my Chameleon Skinks. Unlike the rest of the skinks in my army, they have green scales on their backs instead of blue. In order to maintain continuity, the unscaled skin is still a dark, near-black color.
More Cold One Cavalry
Cranked out a champion, musician, and a couple rank-and-file last night and snapped a few quick pics with my phone. I now have a complete unit for my Buckeye Battles army plus a couple extras.
Re: Buckeye Battles Mini Plog -- More Cold One Cavalry Added
Still doing some work on Saurus Warriors that aren't done yet, so I thought I would snap some pics of my second Terradon unit. I did the mounts in a different color scheme that my first unit (look for them in an earlier post) so they are easier to keep track of on the battlefield. But the basing style and the riders are done the same way, so they still look like they belong to the same army. Pics are from my phone but they still turned out.
Re: Buckeye Battles Mini Plog -- Second Terradon Unit Added
In the run-up to Buckeye Battles, I was more worried about painting than posting. But today I snapped pics of a couple units that I haven't posted before. First are my Saurus Warriors. I was trying to crank them out and got them done on Wednesday before the tournament after about a weeks worth of evenings. All pics were with my new phone, and I am getting a very pronounced purple/pink in the background even though it is actually pure white ...
Next are a couple pics of my Skink Priest. Cranked him out on Thursday (left for the tournament on Friday night).
Next is my Salamander. It was actually done some time ago:
Finally, one more Cold One Cavalry model, just because I love these guys.
I really like your conversions and painting, great inspiration for all of us!
In fact: I just bought a box of 6th edition cold one riders from Ebay
I tried to find them in a local retailer but it's getting harder and harder to find those OOP models. Your impressive combination of DE cold ones and the 6th ed. saurus knights forced me to create an account on Ebay xD
I hope you don't find it offensive (you get all credits ). I already had the dark elf cold ones for a conversion with this guy: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440066a&prodId=prod820844
