Help Need feedback on a color scheme

Hey folks,
I made a new color scheme for my seraphon and I'm really happy with the concept. Albino seraphon (or lizardmen if you insist) on top of firey nebulae patterned dinosaurs.
I tried the galaxy effect on a carno




And I did my oldblood in the albino style






And I did a test model of a subassembly for my saurus knights to see the two together.



I like it a lot, but I don't know what to do about the underbelly of the dinosaurs. The original plan was to do it in the same pale red as the seraphon, but I ended up doing it so that the starfield was all over the model but the galaxies only on the scaly top parts.

What do folks think, should I go back to the original idea and do flesh on the underside? Should I leave as-is? Part of me thinks I should highlight the black underside, but then if I'm putting a bunch of grey edge highlights on the starfield is the effect going to just be lost? Is it okay then, to do no edge highlighting because its meant to be a magical creature? If its a magical creature, why does it have regular-ass claws?

Would love anybody's 2 cents thanks.

I voted to keep it black. Underbelly of the cold ones is honestly something that should be hidden from the viewer, because the sculpt is totally broken there. Instead, drag your viewers attention to the head and top of the dino and the Saurus as well. I also think the edge highlight will screw the star/nebula pattern.

I would vote leave it black also, just total black with small stars here and there

I really like this concept, and it's very well done.
I say leave it black as well, it will contrast nicely with the white Lizards and makes the dinos look magical, which I think would be lost somewhat if the underside got painted.

Probably very carefully feeding wash/watered down layer paints in. Or that's how I did it for my Sun Fire Oldblood

Thanks for the kind words, honestly i think the oldblood didn't turn out as well as it could have, there isn't as much contrast between the base color and the highlight as i'd like. the dude on the saurus rider is much closer to what i was aiming for.

Basecoat in vallejo deck tan
wash all over in carrosburg crimson
paint everywhere but recesses in deck tan
broad highlight in vallejo elfic fesh
extreme highlight in vallejo white

always work in multiple thin layers every step (excepting the wash) using glaze medium to dilute paints. I didn't drybrush anything, though a quick and dirty version could probably be achieved via drybrush. I also went back multiple times with a small detail brush to put carrosburg crimson between scales or into recesses when i needed more shadows. This was just for the skin, if you want my recipe for anything else i'm happy to oblige.

First things first, you NEED an airbrush to do what i did. I'm sure very talented folks could do this by brush, but I certainly don't know how
-Basecoat in pure black
-Do subtle clouds in the black with an off-white or white
-Go over the white bits with whatever colors you want your galaxies to be, I used citadel's fire dragon's bright, an untitled pink reapers paint they sent for breast cancer month, and vallejo's red. try to avoid the black as much as possible so it stays pure black. be random in your patterns and try to give colors both spaces where they mix and spaces where they are on their own
-add some small circles of pure white both in the galaxies and in the black away from everything to make big stars or bright spots
-add the smaller stars by dipping a toothbrush in white paint (i used crate and barrel cheap ass walmart paint, thick is good in this case) and flick it across the surface to make small random patterns of stars
-if any big globs hit feel free to make a small circle around it with the airbrush to hide it or cover it in black

I agree. I need to put down more basecoats of black and be more careful to leave it undisturbed. I hope to do so on future models as I become more practiced.

At first site I did not quite like it, but seeing the Cold one it looks great.
You will tie the colors in with the robes, plaques, nails and teeth.

It will turn out great
