Blog Neveroddoreven's New Lizardmen

Also to show are my refurbished cavalry. I replaced the riders with the previous edition metal ones.

I like the prone saddle position, it makes them look faster.
I had "decided" to use the current rider models, but now I've just purchased a bunch of the metal ones as well to use on my cold one conversion project.

Your models looks awesome, very good paint jobs!

Wow! Just....Wow!

Those look amazing! You are also an excellent photographer. Well done!

My entrant for the Skinkathalon;

Metzlihuantec
Metzlihuantec1.jpg
It's the Skink Chief I was making a few pages back. I re-converted him back into a Priest.
Metzlihuantec2.jpg
That pink chin was inspired by my new pet gecko.

That moth is the result of playing too much Skyrim recently. His staff (with the orbs representing the two moons) is made from Kroq-Gar's spear.
His overall tone came out very dark. I was going for a limited palette with deep, rich colours, and really wanted to paint something indigo. I suppose it's fitting, he's going to be my lore of heavens priest. His first battle is tonight, leading a guerrilla army to repel a Beastman invasion.

Just Awesome,
and those little details as the frog and moth really make the piece!

I've been browsing through this thread and feel nothing else but pure awe. This is amazing! Without a doubt some of the best models I've seen so far. A very good job, pal.

Totally awesome conversion! The frog and butterfly/moth are very extremely nice, make him look... benevolent, which is rare for Lizardmen. Oh, make no mistake, I'm sure he'll kick butt, given the chance.

Have you thought of sending pictures of your work to the GW's webpage? Although lately they have only shown pictures of new troops/armies.

I like using a peaceful look to my heroes, like the moth gently landing on his hand there. It's all inspired by the Slann model, how the power is implied. They could have had him gesturing and grimacing but the way he's just sitting there suggests that he's calm, confident and in total control.

I won the game, outmaneuvered the enemy and wiped them out by turn 5. I feel sorry for my opponent, his dice rolls were the most consistently unlucky ones I've ever seen. The priest did ok, though I was very cautious. He generated comet of Cassandora and chain lightning, spells a bit too much for him. Probably my first game I've had that my spellcaster didn't self-detonate too so that's a bonus to his credit. It was also my first go with the Troglodon, I don't get the negative popular opinion with this one, it was superb.

I think I'm too late to send in pics to GW. They seem to theme what they show around what they're currently releasing, so unless I have anything resembling giant space-Brettonians, there's no point. I did consider it prior to the Lizardmen release last summer but was just too excited for the new models to do anything about it.

Time for an update I think.

My last of the four Skink Chiefs, of the Stone-Feather tribe.
Xapatihuitl1.jpg
he needs a spear because I mount him on a Stegadon. The skin and scales are based on my Skyrim character's, they were surprisingly easy to paint. It's Rhinox Hide + white for the skin and Rhinox Hide + black for the scales.

And another set of feathers stolen from Karl Franz.

He's also a competition entry. My local GW has a monthly painting/modelling competition. This month's theme is 'Da Big Boss'. I'm in the highest tier because I've won Golden Demon finalist pins before. Kornel Kozak of 'Eavy Metal fame is also entering.
On the subject of competitions, I never gave my thanks for the Skinkathalon win. It was great, and I hope we do another one sometime.

I also have some Terradons on the go, 2/3 done. I'll take pics soon. And a Bastiladon - the beast himself is done, just got the skinks and the solar engine / ark of Sotek still to do there. Other things to show are some southlands Skinks in desert colours and a photo of the fountain you can see in the background of the above pics.
I'm having internet issues at the moment though, it took me 3 HOURS to upload these two.

There seems to be a problem with your pics or is it just me? They are not showing and neither are your older pics. What a tease since I love your stuff!

Edit: I can see one of them now...

Edit 2: Seems to be a problem with picture loading in general. Guess I have to sit here patiently waiting for the other pic then.

Awesome painting as usual!
I'm gonna steal your hands and brain soon!:p

Your work never ceases to amaze me man. :jawdrop:

Wow, excellent work, as usual!

I'm particularly intrigued by that fountain, do you have any more pictures of it?

And what materials did you use to make it?

Your work is a real inspiration for me and I think for many others as well, thank you and keep it coming!

That chief is bloody mindblowing! Have you started on his stegadon mount yet?

I also noted something. You say this is your final fourth skink chief, yet all I can find in this thread is the widn, fire and stone skink. Are you holding on to your final chief of the water tribe or is the water chief just the priest from the skinkathalon?

Found some time for photo taking.
First up is an update on the Southlands Skinks I posted near the start of the thread.
SouthlandsSkinks3.jpg
I like painting skirmishers. You can put in a little more effort on individual models knowing the detail won't get lost in the crowd. Some have yellow patterns, some have red, some have warpaint too. I also really like the bases on this unit.
SouthlandsSkinks4.jpg

These Skinks come from the northern part of the continent that borders Khemri, so are suitably desert coloured.
SouthlandsSkinks1.jpg
The command group was made possible with parts from the newer kits. It's a flexible unit of 12, just enough to surround a Kroxigor, or ditch the command altogether and be fielded as 10 skirmishers.
SouthlandsSkinks2.jpg

Still haven't finished my new Terradons, still got one more to do.
TerradonRiders1.jpg
I tried something new with these, that is to paint them exactly as they are on the box. Except the riders, I wanted to make them stand out a little so I painted them orange-ish using my gecko as reference.

:jawdrop: o_O :jawdrop: o_O :jawdrop: o_O :jawdrop:

-Brilliant as allways Nevermore- :smug:

I am constantly amazed in the amount of detail you manage to pack in.

Wow.. :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop:
Haven't been on for a while, only just noticed this thread now, and I think my brain just exploded.
Truly inspiring painting, keep up the good work!!!

Hey There!

I just discovered your blog and it's kinda awesome :D

I especially love the "Chief of the Sky-Feather Tribe" - any chance you could let me know how you painted the actual rider (the blue skin with a green tinge) as I am trying to get that colour on some models I am doing.

Keep up the good work Neveroddoreven!!
