Hi all, long time lurker and have finally decided to join in!

Around 6 months ago I came back to 40k after 18 years away from the hobby and have been playing orks; after the announcement of the new edition I decided to stick a pin in 40k until that dropped and give AoS a spin.

Asking the guys in my local GW store about less-played armies, apparently not only did none of them play Seraphon, but none of them even knew anyone that played Seraphon! I love to play an unpopular army (hence orks in 40k!), and also Aztec lizards riding dinosaurs for the win!

I started with the Start Collecting! box and battletome and have quickly built and painted another of those plus various extra bits so currently I have:

Old blood on Carnosaur
Skink Starpriest
Old blood on foot
Scarvet on Cold One
Skink Chief
3 units of 5 Saurus knights
20 Saurus warriors w/spears
20 Skinks w/blowpipes and shields
10 Chameleon Skinks
Troglodon
Bastilidon w/solar engine (because dinosaurs with laser beams!)

All speed painted using the 'dip method' - dirty but so so quick!

I've played 3 games so far, first one at 600 points against Nurgle where I took a beating due to bad dice and getting to grasp with the rules (pile in, alternate combat activations etc), second at 1100 against Slaanesh which ended with my Scarvet as last lizard standing and being munched by the last 5 remaining daemons left on the table, and most recently against dwarves at 1500 points where my opponent brought a ton of artillery/shooty stuff but lucky for me he had terrible dice syndrome that day and I tabled him in 3.5 turns.

So that's me, looking forward to picking people's brains for ideas in building my army!

Thanks for your welcomes! I've posted some pictures on the painting board as suggested - be kind with your comments...

@Warden - I'll be dragging my orks out for the launch of new 40k this weekend so I'm sure I'll get around to putting some pics up at some stage :)

Well we certainly have people here who know how to play Seraphon. Not me, but I help facilitate discussions and archive tactica discussions that other people write. My expertise is in 8th edition game play and killing fictional characters in fluff pieces.

Greetings, friend! I have been looking at AoS Seraphon profiles for my Lizardmen and was also thinking of perhaps starting Fyreslayers or Kharadron Overlords (I imagine that's the Dwarf army you faced - shooty but poor in melee). Certainly I'm more interested in AoS than 8th Edition 40K (yawn). What did the chaps at your GW play if they didn't use Seraphon? Just interested to see the spread of army popularity...

Also, I think Orks are really funny to play with because my dad plays them and I've been looking at the rules, and can't understand why they aren't popular. They should at least be more popular than Blood Angels because Blood Angels are probably the most boring and annoying army of all.

Orks are really good fun to play with lots of variation/random, though not so much random in the new edition. You have to want to play "fun" games though, as they are seriously not at all competitive! I find any army in power armour boring, but also accept any army in power armour will beat orks 9 times out of 10.

Chaos and Destruction armies are very popular in my local store, every AoS game I see has either some kind of daemons or those orc guys in the massive suits of armour.
