New lady to Seraphon!

Looking for a good overall, well-rounded list for 2 reasons.
1. I want to win
2. I don't want to spend money on stuff I'm not going to use.

Here's a list of stuff I've read in the Battletome that I like:

Saurus Guard
Saurus Astrolith Bearer
Lord Kroak
Saurus Eternity Warden
Bastiladin
Engine of the Gods

Here's what I own:
The seraphon starter box that came with-
1 Oldblood on Carnosaur
8 Saurus Knights
12 Saurus Warriors
1 Slann Starmaster

I obviously would prefer a list that works well that supplements what I already own. I've played a few games and have lost turn 1 or 2 though.

Honestly for competitive reasons your want list is the army you should go with. That in and of itself is a nearly complete army. Lots of guards. Lots. Add chameleon skinks to that and maybe then read again between salamanders, razordons, terradons, and ripperdactyls to find the one that compliments your play style. Given your want list I would say defensive. So razordons or salamanders would be the way to go.
As it stands you need some aggressive tactics.
Right now you have no defense, so use your knights as a sort of bunker for the slann. Charging your enemy when they put themselves in range. If you can make two of them stand out from the crowd use those as scar vets on cold ones and use those as cowboy support for your saurus. Break the saurus off into two groups of 6 and summon them back with the slann as they fall.
Old blood should be your general for the command ability. Use the old blood aggressively with your saurus running behind for support. Old blood is your entire shooting phase. Make use of it. Move your slann up with your knights for buffs and some wounds but also to summon your saurus back into the action sooner. Scar vets (assuming you do separate two from the knights as such) should be distracting and routing, they are easy to summon back into action, so keep them coming back for more. They should be mosquitos. Annoying and your opponent should be distracted by them until the rest of your force is in position.
But seriously get your want list! That paired with the old blood on carno is a killer list.

For instance, at this moment of time you have the rank of Skink. These rankings are based purely on the total number of messages that the member has posted on the forum. The threshold for the rank of Slann is 5000 posts. As of today, only @n810 has reached the Slann threshold of 5000+ posts.
