Given the likely point values of the herd of new models just released, its likely that the WD battle report simply couldn't squeeze a slann, salamanders, or even stegadons onto their list.... but it doesn't mean that they're no longer going to be viable units. Toned down perhaps, but still viable. Seems like the Grimloq has a different head from the standard carnoaurs... so that would mean at least 4 dinosaur heads in that kit (troglodon also has at least two that we've seen). The Grimloq head looks a lot better IMO than the small cat-like head at least.
I don't think the Troglodon has two heads so much as it has the option for acid, such as that one vomiting river troll.
I'm excited of new models but not excited about the prices at all, everything is so expensive GW is getting more and more rediculous with prices
I just watched the video. They mention that the cold ones have a new sculpt as well as hunting packs (razordons specifically) in the rare section of the army.
cant believe there is no other pics up yet. Surly it cant be those brush 4 hire guys are the only ones with a copy
I heard that too but I find it suspect. They don't mention specifics, they mention old Dark Elf ones, and they aren't at all knowledgeable with Lizardman or WFB either. I don't think they know our current range well enough to trust in that regard.
A new sculpt for Cold Ones, are you sure? I think the guys on the video might be mistaken, we have seen pictures of the new battalion and it still contains 8 of the old dino-cows we all know and love that have been around since the Lustria book.
I paused the video when they got to that part and the cavalry look like the ones we've got now. In fact they state they look very similar to the old versions; considering their apparent unfamiliarity with Fantasy I'm willing to bet they were just confused.
I just got back from vacation and have now seen all the new things we are getting for the upcoming release (just watched the video twice). No. The Cold One sculpts have not changed. The ones in the magazine match the ones I currently own. I haven't read much of this thread but some of my thoughts/questions (sorry if these have already been discussed to death): 1) Skink High Priest--is this a lord level skink mage? Awesome if so. 2) Skink Oracle--is this a lord level skink character? Awesome if so. 3) Bastiladon--new warmachine type units? On top of salamanders and razordons that seems like an awful lot for our army. Is the army dynamic changing a little with this new book? 4) Teradons--seem to have a new sling attack of some kind? Flaming? I think these will end up being a lot more expensive per model (points). 5) Ripperdactyls--no special skink weapon and no rocks to drop...so probably a decent close combat unit? 6) Astromancer? Is that our new lore? I thought we would be using the High Magic lore (possibly with a different lore attribute) Any clarification that has already been figured out would be helpful. Thanks! Exited for dinosaurs again!
1. As far as one can tell yes 2. The rumours a that the Troglodon is a rare choice, so it would appear the oracle is not a character, but simply part of the unit with the Troglodon, no idea yet what it does. 3. Not really, it looks the Bastilodon might actually have some range to it, so it can actually damage an enemy unit from outside if its charge range. 4. It has been suggested that the flaming slingshot is an optional upgrade (which would keep the old models usable), so it may still be possible to field them cheaply. 5. Probably not a decent close combat unit (or at least not what I would call a decent CC unit), given that the rider is a skink its unlikely to have a save worth taking, and I can't see a beast that size having a sufficiently powerful combat profile to make up for the crippling disadvantages of the rider's physical stats. Here's hoping I will be proved wrong though. 6. No idea what the LM lore is yet, it could be high magic or something else. I would guess it is unlikely to be called the lore of Astromancy since "Astromancy" has always been the alternative name for the lore of heavens. If Skink priests/high priests get access to the new lore/high magic I will be very happy indeed.
Alright I am going to string some facts together regarding the Trogolodon and you guys can tell me what you think. When in the video they say that it is a rare choice I figured "oh its like a terrorghiest, it can be the mount for the skink prophet or taken as just a monster. Then I read someone's comment that its just a rare choice and its ridden by something called a skink prophet not that the prophet was actually a character type. Now keep in mind that skink prophets in the past tend to associate with Sotek the god of battle essentially. So then I get hit with an idea. I remember that in the video one guy says that its suppose to be the lizardman "pale rider". For those who don't know the pale rider has two references. It is a reference to one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse (death) and the second is an old clint eastwood western where he plays the pale rider and at the end you find out he was a ghost the whole time come back to avenge his own death. This could mean huge potentials for this unit....
I feel like the Troglodon will have poison attacks. Especially If the Skink oracle is an oracle of Sotek or something. The Bastiladon is probably going to be a buff wagon/warmachine depending on if you make it the solar thing or the Sotek alter I wonder if the Carnosaurs stats will change
Ok guys here the pages I didn't get around to doing last night... (Extra points if you know who the guy is on the last page, & I don't mean the hobbit )
