How long before release will we get some idea of the stats? I figure the Basti for a defense based stegadon equivalent (slow, tough, beasty), which fits what I want perfectly but don't want to go forking out the extra 90 bucks until I know - but I want it ASAP
N810, do you have the magazine in your posession? There are a few questions I would like answering if poss. Can you glean anything regarding the rules from the battle report? Also can you make out if the magic cards are recycled high magic or a new lore entirely?. Any suggestion that the skink high priest has a choice of lores, or is he limited to heavens like the L2 has always been?
I believe the White Dwarf hits the shelves for us common folk on Monday. GW might be nice and post some stat-lines up on their website along with the new models, but I don't think they've been doing that lately. Either way, most secrets should be revealed by Monday.
We may get lucky and they could post some of the magic cards Saturday with the models. I believe that the White Dwarf will be in stores Saturday (hopefully). I do not normally buy it, but I may pick this one up.
The white dwarf will be in shops on saturday i have already spoken to my gw local and as he is alizzy player as well we are gonna look through it and maybe the new book as well
Oooooooo, I am EXCITED!!!!! I am looking forward to a monster army that will strike fear into the hearts of my enemy. If this is not achievable I will run 200 skinks and poison everyone to death!! Time to step away from my VC/HE/WE/DE armies and get the extinct ones out again!! Also, all the people moaning about Ripperdactyls (or howevere you spell it), shorten the name to Rippers. Sounds good to me
If you (or anyone else for that matter) do get a chance to look through the rulebook, please post some details on here! Mother of Sotek, I'm getting to hyped for this release!
If anyone does get a look at the new book, whilst thr rules on new units would be nice to know id be more interested about overall balance. What does the core look like, any changes to points costs, etc
I really hope CoC will be a viable option in this new edition. They are way overpriced for what they are. A drop of 10 points or so (being very optimistic) would be cool along with the Foreststrider rule to make up for the lack of heavy armour and lances (yes I am aware that I am being extremely optimistic) Also Bastilodon and new Carnosaur will be appering in my army!
I gotta say I'm quite disappointed with the new models and the new look gw seems to want to give to the Lizardmen... It all seems so cartoony and silly... Not to mention the names... No, I really don't like what I've seen so far. I'm just gonna take my 6th edition armybook and old White Dwarfs and enjoy the good old times, before it all turned to hell...
lack of heavyarmour? they have 2+ because of their skin, why would you want heavy armour? I hear you on the point drop...just invested in 13 DE cold ones which I am currently converting...so I am crossing my fingers too!
Forgot about the extra save from the cold ones... I have it scribbled down at 3+ in my army book.My apologies!
I agree points drop on CoC would be awesome and needed, but normal cav in 8th took such a big knock because of the steadfast rule and the step up rule, that makes cav less desirable. I agree I love CoC as well from previous edition especially with Blessed Totem of the Huanchi when they could break most units getting into the flank These days we can probably clear enemy support units with cheaper ppm options (skinks, chamos, hunting packs etc) and for flank charges our steggies or other monsters incoming. And other armies struggle to justify knight busses like DE, VC and even HE. Although imo Martial prowess rule now gives HE the best chance as long as they have their ASF rerolls. I love my cavalry but they just seem expensive (even at a reduced cost) to play, for the role they have to fullfill in 8th ed. How do you guys feel about it? I know you have to very careful and choose your battles etc but in 7th ed they were worth it because they could break rank and file without receiving so many attacks back, cav was a force to be reckoned with then. seems like MC fullfills that role now, like Mournfang and skullcrushers... Either way really keen to see our new armybook, I am sure we will have plenty of good options for different builds... Only thing that I am sceptical about is the Ripperdactyls, feels like Geedub will have to give them boss special rules etc to make them a viable choice over terradons. The models are cool, but what are their niche going to be? Melee? with skink riders I need some convincing
As far as rippers go, I will probably proxy my regular terradons for them most of the time (when and if I use them).
seems that lizzies wont get any MC, so i'd bet kroxigors are gonna get a massive buff (T5? Option for halberd? 3+ save? S5?)
Overall i'm disappointed by the direction of this update. The carnosaur, terradons and skink priests look pretty good to me. But it really has turned into strapping various devices on the back of massive monsters for every book. I don't get all the hate for the Cold ones either, I really like the models I think there fantastic and look much better then the DE ones. I guess its more realism vs fantasy which is likely to be down to matter of opinion. Looking forward to seeing how the rules have changed for the existing models more than the new releases (I guess i'm more a fan of infantry style units) and like most people i'm sad about not seeing Carnosaur Cav as monstrous cavalry.
I feel like its safe to say kroxigors and cold one riders will either be buffed or dropped in points. I am really curious if either of them will move into core which would really open up some new list options.
I'm hoping it's just the colors they used. I love the lizardmen for their brutality, not pretty colors. Still, I'm sure even the Bastilodon will look the part if painted properly. Come to think of it, I hate the name too. Despite my pokemon references, I have never watched it in my life, and can't stand the cutesy crap, so the fact that I can't get it out of my head is a very bad sign for big the appearance and name of the new ankylosaurus. I'm going to have to come up with something new to call it, I honestly can't stand it. An ankylosaur was my number one wish for the new book, so if changing the colors doesn't fix it I'll be crushed. Also have big hopes for kroxigors. I want my Skrox units to be useful for something other than making up core points into I get more saurus, because I love the models
