Not sure where hat guy saw it specify any stats for the ripperdactyles or where it says skinks can use lore of beasts....
Anybody else scared that the predatory fighter rule will come at the cost of Saurus only having one base attack?
i just found this guys http://www.dunfermlinewargamesclub.org.uk/dropzone/Warhammer/7th%20Articles/m470852_Lizardmen_FAQ_2008-02_Edition.pdf
Hm, the new pics shed some beter light on the models. Let's see... Terradons: I believe they finally nailed the head, but the rest of the body is a bitt odd, like the stone they're carrying and the wings. Perhaps a more regular paintjob would suite them better. The riders and chief's mask look a bit odd as well. I-refuse-to-call-them Ripperdactyls: imo these belong in a tyranid army.. Not a fan. The Bastilladon (jesus, that name..): these look better than before. The typical GW natural-armor-that-formes-into-pikes-like-a-dark-elf-blacksmith-forged-them is a bit annoying, though that can be fixed. The snake-engine-thingy is allright, but the crystal-engine-thingy is some of the most uninspired things i'v seen in a while (I'd convert that up). In all, better than expected. Carnosaur/troglodon: the Carnosaur looks nothing like how I would expect it to look. It's just an entirely different beast.. Annoying that is shares the same body with the Troglodon, only the Troglodon's head is even uglier, almost a beast of Slaanesh.. The throne is a bit over the top, but the saurus is quite allright! The skink looks a bit generic though. Gor-Rok: ugh, no... Skink Priest: I like this one, bit heavy on the feathers though.. How many priest models do we have by now? Tetto Eko: Don't really like this one. A lot of parts seem to just be taken from the Slann model. And what's with the batteries hanging below the palanquin? I'm a bit surprised by some of the things that are present and some of the things that are missing. No MC for example. And weren't all the sources saying there'd be a Nakai model? m..
Wow thanks. I would go into detail about how excited I am by some of the things implied there (spawnings, changes to krox) but don't want to get banned for inappropriate language *edit* dammit, old faq. Devastated.
^^ Yeah, that's old. Sorry Terrified. BUT, Saurus have always had 2 attacks. The Predatory Fighter Rule used to justify the second attack, so I guess we'll see. Honestly I think the potential of having 3 attacks at S4 on a Core model is way OP. But taking away something that has always been is a pretty big nerf bat in our faces. Lets hope it's a rule for Characters and Mounts only. That way people aren't screaming CHEESE for the next 6 years.
Ehhhhh... 3 strength 4 attacks on a WS3 model isn't great, given what they need to go up against. It won't make them that much better at killing regular rank and file Core which they are already good at (although its undoubtedly a plus); but, equally, it won't help them that much against elites or Warriors. Although its a nice bonus against Nurgle, where you're looking for 5s anyway. Where it will really shine is on Temple Guard and Cold One Cavalry due to their higher strength. Throw in a little magical buffing to round it out plus that Trog bonus so its 5s instead of 6s.
Just because you dislike the Ripperdactyls doesn't change the fact that they are in the book and the are monstrous cavalry Whenever the Lizardmen book is up for renewal there are always sources that say there will be a Nakai model, and there are always sources that say there will we a coatl mode, and they are always both wrong.
@GCPD; Good points. And I suppose that Warriors can pull 3+ attacks a model pretty easily. Could just be that GW decided Saurus should catch-up with Chaos to get back the title of "almost best infantry in Warhammer." I dunno about you guys, but I see a lot of core troop synergy stuff with the Troglodon and Bastiladon. Like the 5+ Predatory Fighter thing and the Initiative boost. Going to ease some pressure off the Slann maybe? Could make a Slann-less list competitive too. Well.... I don't think they are confirmed as MC yet... Storm of Magic has solo Terradons listed as War Beasts. Fingers crossed on that, I'd say.
Didn't someone with WD confirm ripperdactyls as having 2 wounds, that would make them monstrous right, because regular cavalry are single wound mounts only.
I wish. The Warrior statline is, frankly, a joke compared to other Core - and that's before you even factor in upgrades or Marks. An extra attack on a 6 or +2 initiative, at best, won't help even those odds much, sadly. Still, its somewhat ironic that I find Warriors the least threatening elements of the Warriors of Chaos book...
And besides, savage Orc Bigguns have 3 attacks with S5 on the first turn of combat at WS4 and cost the same points cost as Saurus currently, I'd call that fairly balanced.
In the old days, didn't saurus have one basic attack and an extra automatic strength 4 hite (bite)? WOuld be awesome if that bite rule were to return.
Are those prices in U.S. Dollars? And is the first column wholesale, and the second column suggested retail? If so, how many of you will be buying a Carnosaur for $100?
The HE Limited Edition rulebook was $90.00, and the Battle Magic $6.00 right? I'm more inclined to believe the left column if so.
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum but I'll try not to annoy anyone too much I have to admit although I'm quite saddened that we're still stuck with our cold one models while fancy shmancy elves have theirs I am loving the design of the new monstrous dinos. Someone mentioned previously that the new carrnasaur/ troglodon body is stocky and hunched but I may be able to shed some light on the matter. The curved talons on the feet, stockier and thicker forelimbs are characteristics of the raptor family and the hooked thumb claw I haven't seen outside of baryonyx or spinosaurus egypticus. With all the other big monster kits that GW been throwing out the design is suggestive towards ripping apart other big beasties. And the flaming bolas are fire leeches? Bugs need love too
You should be even more excited... skink blowpipes happen in the shooting phase too! Those HPAs won't be able to count on their regen to save them from the skink clouds of doom anymore.
