Why does everything talk about stuff like its worthless? I use cold ones a lot. And a few other things people say aren't viable to great success. Perhaps you are just using them wrong. I have seen swarms used to great effectiveness. someone said skrox units suck. Its all in usage. Someone said skirmishers with blowpipes suck. I win games with just my skinks sometimes.
I agree with you. I will wait to say anything sucks until I have had a chance to play them all. I look forward to the new book.

Yeah let's at least wait to see what we have before complaining about it. I like that this place is so different from the tyranid forums, let's keep it that way.
I really want to see what the trog and bastildon rules are. I am mostly interested in those. Also the prospect of running 2 carnosaurs and 2 units of cold ones if I have the points.
I want to see the swarm rules. Swarms can be really effective (hint, Ld10 and I like shadow magic). Nothing says face stomp and mindrazor snakes.
Everyone thinks swarms suck, but they are great for blocking charges and redirecting. And just messing up your opponents plans. I hope the rumor of creating swarms with the bastilidon is true. That would be cool
This just in from warseer Kroxigor are back to S5. 25 Skaven Slaves. Skink cohorts can be upgraded to have poison close combat attacks Skinks can now channel Direct Damage as well as magic missiles Slann still infantry, but can't be thunderstomped. Ancient steg gives units within 6 6+ ward with the engine. Also choose a Lore and it's 1 easier to cast. This stacks. Stegs - one of the upgrades gives it's impact hits D3 W's special rule.. That is good with D6+ 1 impact hits monstrous cav/infantry killer Bastilodon - S4 T5 4W's 3 attacks 2+ Save Beam of Chotex is a bound spell 3 range 24 - roll a D6 1 D3 S3 hits, 2-3 D6S4 4-5 2D6 S5 roll a 6 2D6 S6 & -1WS & BS till next magic phase 75 Skaven Slaves for a Bastilodon. Inititative bonus doesn't stack. Saaad face. For the Snakes, the ranged bit is range D6". every unit with D6" gets 2D6 st2 hits. Also work in combat. All swarms with 6" get a new base on a 4+ Wandering Deliberations 15 Skaven Slaves - Slann knows all 8 sig spells from rule book lores Soul of stone 12.5 Skaven Slaves - allows the Slann to add or subtract 1 from the miscast result instead of original Slann 12.5 Skaven Slaves more basic and doesn't come with any Disciplines. Slann can only go in second rank in temple guard unit. Always passes LOS. Some magic items - Egg of Quayno - roll a D6 one use on a 4+ does 2D6 S5 hits on a unit in combat with bearer 1-3 not as good Stegadon helm +1 save +1 T D3 impact hits Razordon - Grapeshot @ st4. reroll arty dice on stand and shoot Cold One Cav area few points cheaper and Cold Ones themselves have 2 attacks. Agreed: I've always had great success with my CoC, I only take a small unit of 5 and yet they're a really useful hammer in combat. Similarily with the swarms, they're a really useful tar-pit and have helped stall enemy movement to great effect. Then why does the WD talk about a Skink High Priest? I hope some this was the result of something lost in translation; a cheap lord-level mage is sorely needed, even if it is just Lv.3. Still, pleased about the Kroxigor if it does turn out to be Str.5.
Bastidalon bound spell is kinda stupid you cant cast it to CC as it will be either missile or DD and it gives -1WS till next magic phase, but when the unit get -1WS you allready had your movement phase and can charge it only the other turn, whne you charge other turn you will have the second magick phase and the -1ws is gone and you cant cast it to that unit any more. lame... unlles ofcourse opponent in his turn charges you, BUT he can dicide to wait and lose that -1ws. So i think we will see this -1WS like once in 20 games kinda sucks

Interesting indeed, I'm still going to hold off until I get my book, but at the moment I really hope what he says about Kroxigors is true, strength 5 again, cheaper and still able to rank with skinks means I will probably include them back in my force.
I pre-ordered mine through GW. I have access to a local store that can get me 20% off anything, but I can't get the special edition that way. So yeah, not sure of any other place online right now since the books aren't technically available. Great news on those rumors! Glad to see Krox back up to S5! Poisoned Skrox blocks? Hmmm... Kinda bummed about the Basti rules though. Seems like he should be tougher than a Steg.
I was hoping for a living wall to break attackers on. The immovable object to the stegs irresistible force. Oh well, glad I held off on getting two of them. No loss though, I'll just get one of them and some more stegs instead.
This release is starting to irritate me. I'm seeing nothing that is going to make me change my play. The Carnosaur and Troglodon are cannon fodder and the Bastiladons have some borderline useless abilities.
