I thought I read somewhere that they were auto hit similar to the spit venom rule the hydra has in the SoM book? Could be wrong though.
50pts I think?, so you are already saving 15pts since it no longer needs a skink priest, and then the stegadon itself went down in points so there is more savings there.
Thanks stormtruperTK41! I'm attempting to compile a complete army list like they did over at Ulthuan.net for the HE release. If I get it done I'll share...
Except its been reduced to a 6++ in half the range, and whilst it keeps the ability to reduce a spell's casting level by 1, there's no sign of Burning Alignment. So its a significantly worse Engine for less points. In fact, this is a further example of terrible game design. GW want you to take monsters, right? Big monsters are the theme. Except there's no way to keep them safe from ranged attacks like war machines. So they give you a bubble ward save. Except its only 6+. And the range is so limited, you'll have to bunch up all your monsters right next to it. So the enemy has no trouble at all getting a Purple Sun or template weapon through all of them. Good man. I'd update the first page of my thread, but I'm too depressed...
I there any chance that some of these rumours are unconfirmed and therefore not true? Is it one person saying all these bad things? Or everyone? I just want to know if I should hold on to that sliver of hope I have that these recent rumours are false...
Couple quick questions as I fill this out.... Regular Stegadon cost? Upgrade costs? Temple Guard cost? Are both types of Bastiladons the same price? Old bloods still cost the same? Feel free to PM me or answer in the thread! Thanks, Div
Hey guys in the WD it says that the carnosaur and its rider fight as one, also in kro-gars carnosaur ( glymlok or whatever his name is) there is another new rule "attuned to the beast" Any news on what that does? In warseer there was some speculation that the rider may give the WS to the carnosaur. That would be something now wouldnt it?
temple guard down to 7/8ths of their old cost. I cant find the thread that had the stegadon cost information, sorry
At d3 autohits it might be viable. Maybe. But as its competing for Rare points with Salamanders and Multiple Wounds Impact Hits Ancient Stegadons...
It looks like Kroxigors can indeed be attacked in the second rank, and the Skinks can be stomped too. So. Kroxigor and Cohort Skinks are going to join Saurus Cavalry, Oldbloods and Carnosaurs on the shelf.
I hope so - an average of one S5 hit per game isnt worth 200 points. Still hoping theres SOMETHING to make it worthwhile. I already preordered the kit, and Carnosaurs dont seem to have improved. I really hope a lot of these rumors are false. I also heard the Bastilodon was hard for a necrosphinx to wound. Hopefully thats true and the stays we have seen so far are false - I can't imagine t5 and 2+ slowing down a necrosphinx.
A Necrosphinx only has 4 strength 5 attacks. Its not unreasonable for it to hit with 3, wound with 1, and for that 1 to get bounced on the 4+ modified armour save. It also has a single strength 10 attack, and from my reading of the battle report that one did hit and wound.
Kinda seems like all this doom and gloom talk has made people severely overlook our Saurus. These guys got an unbelievable upgrade with Predatory Fighter. That's an extra attack if they roll a 6 to hit? And if you run each unit of Saurus in tandem with a swarm, like a detachment, they all have Poison? Holy cow, that's huge! And swarms are cheaper!? Who cares if they're special points, that's an amazing buff. 2 attacks per Saurus, if you roll a 6 it auto-wounds AND lets you get another attack. And if you running a throw-away Beast Priest... Gravy... It's just that magical word "synergy" that everyone hates. With the Skink blocks getting access to poison, why do we even need Krox to run with them? Save yourself 100 points on Krox that can be killed and upgrade all those Skinks to have poison. Bye bye monsters. Everyone hates Ghouls by now, right? Although I am also bummed by the monster rules, I'll still try them. Trog/Carno and Basti should have a better stat line I think. Good thing I already have a couple Stegadons
Predatory Fighter is nice, but its not the amazing boon people are looking for. Its a 1/6 chance for an extra WS3 S4 attack. You're talking a couple of extra wounds, at that. I also don't believe that the Jungle Swarm is at all worth while. It just doesn't work well. It has low initiative, low weapon skill, and low toughness. It means that an enemy in a combat doesn't have to allocate that many attacks to kill it, and with low initiative across the board this probably means that you won't benefit from the poison. Or you bring lots of them, but 35 points adds up quickly. Three will set you back a unit of Terradons, or 8 Chameleon Skinks. I know which I would prefer. Or you take one or two and add a 150 point Bastiladon to crank some more out in game; but at some point you just have to ask yourself if you're throwing good money after bad. Now you've got nearly 200 points of precious Special just to get a few poisoned attacks in combat; when half that can get you Poisoned scouting ranged attacks that can contribute to the battle much earlier. A good swarm contribute is the VC Bat Swarm ASL. This isn't nowhere near as good. You're forgetting Ghouls have T4, 2 attacks each and unbreakable. There is no way I'm paying 2ppm for 2 poisoned hit (if 6 wide) or 4 (if horde, assuming you won't get more than 8 in and that's optimistic against monsters). For 10 points more you can get Skirmisher Skinks who put out more ranged shots, and sooner, without worrying about getting into combat. This is exactly the same internal balance issues I was worried about when I heard Vetock, of Savage Orc infamy, was writing the book. I think we were talking about the Trogolodon's ranged attack, and that's rare.
