I do understand how disappointed people are I play Lizardmen too, they were my first army and my main army I'm just trying to look at it from a certain point of view as taught to me by my good friend Obi Wan Kenobi. Things always tend to look better or worse on paper. We won't know how this book will play out for a good few months from now when people get more comfortable with the changes.
I don't play tournaments, but Natural 20 was referring to tournaments hence why I said what I said. I'm not saying Ripperdactyls can't shine once in a lifetime, but I think they suffer from terrible rule designs. I might be wrong, but I would NEVER field a unit of those guys because I don't feel like there is anything they can do that something else can do more reliably.
And I'm sitting here hoping mine arrive at the start of the coming week... What would I not do to have a GM store closer than eight hours drive away right now
Got my book. I have to BBQ in a bit but I'm going over it now. After 30 minutes going over the book I will say that almost every leak is accurate. It seems unless you plan to run the new models released except at best... your previous unit is the same or at worst... it got nerfed. It doesn't seem like any model that was widely used before this book got any kind of buff. PS Kroxigor don't have Great Reach.
You know, Ripperdactyles, provided they are cheap enough, could be a great way to quickly remove chaff and other nuisances. They fly 20", loads of attacks, good initiative, they could rip into things like fast cavalry and enemy skirmishers. But it depends how much they cost...
No they are mixed, they keep the same random wound allocation... Kroxigor just don't have great reach... which kind of makes it pointless.
The Skink Cohorts/Krox rules are all jacked up. Spawn-kin is the special rule. Ranking up with Skink/Krox is pretty much unchanged. CC can only target Krox even if the skinks are in base to base contact with the enemy Missile/impact are 1-4 Skin 5/6 Krox There is no rule giving Krox more than the 1 supporting attack when in a mixed unit that I can see.
You can also add as many Krox is you can get with your skinks now. Missile hits are the same as they were. The Krox can be hit, they don't have to be hit. Opponents can still go after skinks.
So, not having Great Reach is actually a good thing I think. Great Reach only let them attack over a single rank of Skinks right? In a horde of Skrox can we put the Krox in the third rank and have them get their 3 attacks now?
Becalming Cogitation = reroll first failed dispell every turn Slann actually lost Loremaster. Slann can purchase Loremaster(High Magic) but not Loremaster for other lores. I am surprised people are saying Jungle Swarm are rubbish. Jungle Swarm gives friendly units in the same combat poison attacks (melee), combine that with Skinks Saurus or even CoC(which now has 4 attacks per base).
It is stated in the Skink upgrade "May add one Kroxigor for every eight Skinks in the unit" so the ratio is still the same. It also says "can ONLY target Kroxigors", so the enemey cannot choose to attack the Skinks. Except for Skinks that are in B2B with enemy but not in B2B with a Krox, those can still be attacked.
Krox have to go in the second rank, until there isn't any room for them. Extras can go in the third rank and back, but they won't be able to attack.
The Army Book is very nice. It's put together well and the layout makes sense for the most part. My only compliant so far is that at the end of the book where it lists the models/points/upgrades it doesn't list what page the actual unit is on. in my 40K Daemon book when you're at the back of the book it would say something like pg 41 or something after the units name so tracking down it's special rules were easier.
Idea forming... 100 skinks, 10 kroxigors, full command, and 7 skink chiefs in horde formation with some beast buffs... IF you can get the supporting attacks from the back rank of kroxigors...
