Every time I see this thread has new posts in it, I get excited and open it up in hopes of new information. Every time I open it I realize how gullible I am.
Its OK Dan, you can't help it. SoB (you do know about "Spawning of Bob and Friends" don't you? http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/spawning-of-bob-and-friends.10886/
At least I'm not the only one who opens this thread hoping for something new. Then again, I'm home taking care of my kids while my wife is sick, so I'm a bit bored.
This is the only thread and site I have been checking for updates since June. Not much yet, but I almost gave out a girlish scream when I saw the pagecount increased from 16 to 17.
I wouldn't take the monsterous cav rumours too seriously yet. They also rumoured that High Elves would have dragon rider cav and that didn't happen. But who knows, GW does like to make money!
And all you guys that posted saying how you were hoping there were updates because the page count increased caused me to open it. Which caused me to post this, which will in turn cause the next poor bastard to be excited about updates.
I am really interested in the new book so I check this often. I wish we had a better system though. The thread is so old and has so many posts with so little actual information it's unwieldy. A mini-me of "Lizardmen in 8ed" The thread is too compelling to resist but too big to read. I do like Spawning of Bob's additions to both.
Probably doesn't mean much, but on the US, UK and Aus GW sites Terradons are listed as dispatched within 4 weeks. Might be a confirmation of a new kit, might just be low stocks, who knows.
Has there been any word on what magic items we'll keep? Hopefully our two pages of items will at least be good ones.
So yesterday I had a game with my local shop owner and we were talking about what the new releases may be and what not. Now, he is older and does not do "the whole online forums thing", so sometimes I give him info he has not heard about yet. During our game he got a call from his supplier and after placing his usual hobby orders he said "so what about the new lizardmen stuff for first week of August". There was a lot of "mhmm" and "uh-hu" after that. After he got off the phone he told me that there is still lots of stuff for lizardmen in regular trade circulation, such as the army book, models, battalion box, etc.. which made him doubtful that lizzies were in August. Personally, I think there has been too much hallabaloo online for Lizards to not be next month (my heart will break), but he did bring up a good point. What do you guys think?
I briefly talked with my local shop manager the weekend before last and he said that he thinks the next release could very well be Lizardmen. Or Dwarfs. Or 'Vanilla' Marines. I think it's pretty much up in the air as to what will be released next, with no solid basis behind much of the rumours (we're sadly lacking in any slip-ups like the High Elf and Apocalypse releases) I don't want to get myself to excited. Whilst the majority of rumours online do seem to support Lizardmen it could easily be the result of hyped skinks than genuine leaks from the inner sanctum. That being said I very much doubt it could be Space Marines (assuming that is what he meant) considering we've just had a 40k wave in Apocalypse. Whilst I'd be happy for the Dwarfs crowd if they do finally get an update, I will be a tad grumpy if it isn't Lizardmen. Basically: trust no-one!
All this secrecy from GW drives me nuts. I have recently started playing Malifaux. Since then, I have decided to sell off some of my warhammer stuff. While I am keeping my lizardmen and ogres, I believe I am done with GW. Seeing a company like Wyrd Miniatures treat their players the right way has made me see the light.
Oh man, some of those maulifaux models are beautiful. I got one for my mordheim warband. How do the actual rules for the game play?
The total lack of actual rumours while stuff like the Farsight supplement is getting leaks is kinda disconcerting for me... All we really have is the terradon head, and that's in poor lighting and could just mean plastic terradons are somewhere in the future, not that we're up next month. I guess we'll see in two weeks or so, but for me at least I'm starting to think we won't get an update until later in the year.
I originally bought the Malifaux (10 Thunders) models for use in Mordheim for a Human Warrior Monk band. These models are amazing. The Rules are a very different take on wargaming. Instead of dice, you use playing cards. You can even use standard cards. The Malifaux ones are much better though (they have some great graphics on them). The entire game is almost like playing several hands of poker. Each player has a 'control' hand which allows them to 'cheat' the cards that are flipped off the top of the deck. The 2nd edition of the rules will be in stores in about a month. The game is easily more affordable than GW's stuff. You can get and play the game with about $50 total. That will get you the rules and two boxed sets to start with. I recommend it highly. I actually started demoing the game for Wyrd in my local shops. For demoing, I can get about $50 in product free (I pay the shipping). A pretty good deal.
I agree rumors and even confirmation of release date has been as scarce as hen's teeth. I was concerned as well whether we will see our new book in Aug. One thing that gives me a little hope is that when I went to the GW (UK) website I noticed none of our units have their statlines at the bottom anymore...Its not much but it was the same with WoC before their release. I know its not much but it is somethong I am so bloody excited about our new book, come what may!
The release rumor calendar has been dead on so far. I have no reason to doubt LM wont be next. We will know for sure in another week or so though when preorders go up. I frequent two FLGS in my area, one a GWS and one a generic hobby shop, and both feel that LM is coming out next month. When does August White Dwarf come out? That will settle all of this.
