So I've been asked to sculpt a new Lizardman model,

but what should it be?

It will be available for sale and will be cast, but I'm trying to get some ideas.

So far a few things that have grabbed me have been.

Salamander equivalent.
Slann equivalent.
Coatl.

Anyone have anything they would prefer?

I'm limited with large models though, so I can't sculpt anything bigger than a kroxigor (which I've virtually finished now.)

Variants of any character models I think would be the best for one-off sculpts. A second Slann option that still looked like the same kind of creature as the current one would be great for example.

I would say a salamander equivilant. That model could be improved. A Coatl would be nice as well.

The salamander isn't a bad idea, but I'm one of the few people here who likes the current model.

Coatl would be tough without rules - I know what a Coatl is "supposed" to be from mythology, but if GW may interpret the beast totally differently than you would model it. Some variation is good, but you want the model to match the rules/powers.

I love the chameleon character in your avatar (can't think of his name). I realize you can't sell an exact representation of a named character due to IP issues, but skink or chameleon in a dynamic pose with scenery would look great. Especially if you could make a set of 3 in different poses.

But my favorite is a saurus on a cold one. Mounted Scar Vets are commonly used so you would have a ready customer base, and I'd love to see your interpretation of a cold one.

Salamander. Everyone wants them, lot of dislike for the current model, no IP issues, and GW's just went up in price. Seems like a good 1 off model.

You'll do a lot of people some good if you do a salamander or terradon. Both of these models currently look too serpent-like and not enough dino characteristics; especially the terradon. Definitely not a fan of the snake-like tail.

A coatl would be my vote. A new Slann style being my second choice.

Salamander seems to be the most popular,

Thank you all for your feedback and thoughts, I'll continue with the sculpting thread shortly and add in the changes with the kroxigor too.

As for the Slann, I'm sure I'll end up doing one soon enough, but thought about copying a large frog (one of the members on this site has the one I've thought about in his avatar).

With regards to the salamander, what would look best?

Should I try for a mix of salamander and razordon, so something with a sail on it's back but loads of spikes, or something that looks like a salamander but with it's own style and look (something a bit more dinosaur like?)

Thanks again!

How about something that could go as either a sally or a razordon? One stop shop (two birds with one stone).

Just a thought.

You mean like a multi option package?

Something that could be a Salamander or Razordon?

I like the look of the semi-biped dinosaurs, like hadrosaurs or (arguably) stegosaurs. In fact, anything dino-like will do, as long as you don't have the slithering, curvy look but more of having stiff body, stiff and heavy tail with a somewhat flexible neck.

In regards to the sally/razordon option on one model, I really have no idea how that's going to work.

I would definately want a Salamander. GW's prices are silly, as are the models.

As for the models itself, It would be really cool to combine the salamander with the Razordon some way. Give it the typical salamander sail, and add some tail spikes, spines at its elbows and knees, and perhaps horns. Although id give the salamander look dominance, since a direct cross between the razordon with a sail on its back would look a bit wierd.

A strong option would be to perhaps make an extra head or such, to add some variety since everyone would want a few of them. And perhaps an optional tail if you are up to it. Making different bodies would be a bit to much perhaps.
