I'm not sure how re releasing old models makes them go down in score. Are you saying they would still be an eight if they had of left these models rot away on a shelf? If they didn't put these out, there would have been no lizard releases. I'm sure someone appreciates the opportunity to buy the old models, even if they don't look as good.
I saw a damn good point on Warseer the other day. Part of the reason GW justifies all their prices rises is that their models are increasing in quality by a lot. Now they rerelease 10 year old models for a massive markup?
Good point. In fact, because those molds have already paid for themselves, they could have cut the prices to get rid of the current stock.
It would have been nice to get something like a new plastic scar vet or something. Am I the only one who detests the old "Aztec" theme? its like no one bothered to remotely try to research & just did these silly faces. (talking about the standards)
If they're gonna bring some new lizardmen models don't bring old ones, but make some new ones, I would like terradons who are easy to put togehter(and still look as cool as the ones now), perhaps plastic ones, and perhaps a cool scar-vet/oldblood. Skaven are getting so much cool things(good for me I play skaven ) while lizards get ugly old models, GW I'm losing faith in you. I wonder can't Mantic Games make some cool lizzie's , I love their undead especially the ghouls.
Characters and special characters are where GW makes their bucks too. They come out with really cool looking models and people just HAVE to have them! I'm entirely confounded as to why to took a half dozen steps backwards on this Lizardmen set. It's like they aren't even trying!
I actually like the old models and have quite a few of them lying about, for a start the old Kroxigors I think look better than the new ones. As for the price thats a different matter! I found an old White Dwarf issue and Oxayotl was priced at £3 (WD232 April 1999) however to put things in perspective a metal slann was £25, the army book was £15 and a metal stegadon was £25. Now I know these were metal models but the equivalent model today is no more expensive and if you shop around online is often considerably cheaper. This was at a time when the plastic Warhammer regiments were just starting to come on the market and cost just £10 and included 12-20 models with nice medal command pieces. Ah those were the days....
You know what I like about the Oxyotl model? GW chose a bright orange colour scheme for him. This is a charmeleon, who changes colour to match his surroundings and must blend in perfectly, where the hell is he fighting in a bright orange terrain??
My mistake, I forgot about that place.. I figured he might have been fighting in the centre of a volcano, but then I realised none of his enemies would be able to survive with him.
Interestingly enough, real chameleons don't change color to blend in with their surroundings, but to communicate things to other chameleons. A pal of mine breeds them, and some of the colors they change to when they get angry are pretty spectacular. Maybe Oxyotl is just really mad... at the person that sculpted him.
I seriously don't mind the Oxtyl model but why in hell did they bother with those metal command skinks i may but the person who decided to re-release those skink deserves to be banished to the same place of hatred as the bloke who wrote the demons book.
