If there is a seraphon vs orruks 2 player box that means a new unique hero for us. It took forever to find a copy of looncurse that wasn’t price inflated for my arch-revenant so I’d recommend getting it as soon as possible if you want the hero and can afford it. Price will just keep going up the longer it’s out as demand increases.

Could also just be some artistic liscence? I think it's more likely we'll see finecast models replaced then new saurus warriors but we'll see? There seems to be a real push to replace and remove resin minis of late.

I think it's probably more artistic license than anything else. The saurus don't look much different from other renditions of the Seraphon (except that the Carno is more appropriately sized and the oldblood's armor & weapon look somewhat "sleeker/space-aged"). However, it's still cool to see the Seraphon being represented in updated materials.

To that topic, an Orruk/Seraphon boxed set would be sweet! Or a Seraphon/Ossiarch Bonereapers boxed set. Or a Seraphon/any army boxed set. Or just a boxed set of updated Seraphon. Or even a new hero or two plus a terrain piece. In short, more, newer lizards with dinosaurs... pretty please, GW? Fingers crossed.

I like it because it means we are still at the table. I dislike it because it just shows us getting curb stomped

GW Fluff is always like that though. When our turn comes we will be absolutely destroying all.

Meh, I think that might have more to do with the fact that you can only see like 4 saurus in the picture with the orruks. In the picture of nurgle you simply see far more followers of nurgle, so naturally some of them end up in a winning (or at least, not losing) pose.

Of course pictures on warscroll cards or in Battletomes usually display the respective army as winning or at least heroically fighting.
The old Sylvaneth Battletome has a picture of Drycha killing a Saurus Warrior IIRC.

I see it mainly as positive. If they intended to drop Seraphon they would most likely stop mentioning them.

That is very much true. It does at least mean they're not intending to drop us, even if we only get to be a punching bag :p

I keep hearing people mentioning the dropping of Seraphon and I always gotta chime in and say it just ain't so! We got a new box at Christmas last year, an update in the 2019 Generals Handbook (Stellar Tempest!!), and some new art and painting videos (including a new Contrast paint named after our Terradons).

We'll get our time to shine soon :) Still hoping for endless spells, terrain, and a skink melee hero that buffs skinks... and converting all of our finecast to plastic.

I have only played 3 games and I agree that I find the lack of wounds pretty bad.
    Example is something like:

Saurus Guard: 5 models is 80 points at 5 wounds total
Skinks: 10 models is is 70 points at 10 wounds.

I am new to this so my theorycrafting can be way off.. but there is no point fielding Guards over swarms of Skinks.
More dice thrown = more hits/damage dealt (in my short experience).. not to mention I can summon Skinks by the bucketload.

Also I have found when I face other armies that have models with multiple wounds like Orks.. sure I can apply some damage, but they only have to hit/wound me once to remove the model from the field (which removes my chance to strike back) while they can still be on the board with wounds on his models after sustaining a round of combat as we don't deal a lot of damage to grind down the wounds.

Also I find that it is effective to run swarms of models than small/medium blobs of models.

3 games in and I have been demolished each time around.
I chose Seraphon to run big nasty looking lizards instead I am finding I am just running heaps of Skinks. I like the Skink models but it feels like every list I find runs the same.

Guards do a lot more damage than skinks will ever do and are among the toughest battleline if no mortal wounds are nearby.
It is ridiculous that "elites" from an army that is supposed to have "elite infantry" get only a single wound per model and have worst offensive stats than every chaos battleline there is (almost) when they are the last line of defense vs chaos.

Fair enough - as mentioned I have only played 3 games so my thinking can be(is) way off - so I really don't have the experience :D

I have bad dice luck.. but I find I am better off rolling a crap tonne of dice to get some hits vs only a handful of dice.. hence why I run skinks :)
Especially for the cost price I can run a lot of the skinks vs guards/warriors.
If our elite army could sustain at least a round of battle, then I would consider them. Right now I don't see the value of running things like warriors and guards over skinks. Shame as I have a lot of nice models but not worth playing them - sure fluff reasons or for rule of cool but you still want to be able to be competitive vs just feeding bodies to your opponent.

Same as our Knights - the models are 'ok' but I have 15 of them all painted up and they look great on the board.. charging lizards.. but I have not been able to make them viable. Yes they have 2 wounds a piece, but then go down really quick :/

its the 5+ save a good rule of thumb for durability is 6+ awful 5+ bad 4+fine 3+good 2+ (this can only be gotten thru a good save and buffs) wonderful.
there are exceptions like shrugs and rerolls and save isn't the only stat that makes a unit good but to determine durability this helps.

    Have you tried saurus warriors?
they are not great, but they can deliver a pretty devastating Alpha strike with Fangs of SOtek, if you charge with them in the first turn (which is a pretty easy thing to do). With a ScarVet that uses on them 3 times its command ability, you can have them deliver 3 Attacks each, and for each 4+ to hit, they do 3 aditional attacks. Nothing will survive.

Actually, in a horde and with the battalion, each model should deliver 4 attacks
