I don't care if other people don't like the Empire. I like them. All they need to do is make a start collecting box that combines steam tanks, demi gryphs and some troops, and it would completely dominate again. I find Games Workshop's hateful act, of releasing Dwarf and Dark Elf on Empires big release day party, a horrible thing to do. Maybe when they release the Seraphon battle tomb, you will get a new start collecting box with some dwarfs in it, and see how you feel. People saying that Empire is not fantastical? Well dwarfs are even less fantastical then the Empire.
Really? So who is the primary protagonist then? First off, they already had all those Empire models. To introduce Araby/Cathay/Nippon/Albion or the like would have taken considerably more resources on their part. Secondly, to build on your idea, I don't think one of these Araby, Cathay, Nippon or Albion factions would sell as well as Empire. Empire already has a pre-established fan base. I'm surprised it took GW so long to bring them in.
why? just don't use them the whole point of cities is that its a coalition of all the races the dwarves built the cities that the humans live in they are the same groop. that is a poor comparison seraphon have no history of working with dwarves and they don't live together are we talking about the same dwarves that make helicopters and dispell magic by complaining?
it's the new long beard warscroll that was updated 3 days ago they expanded old grumblers to include the following complaint ‘Too much damned magic flying about these days!’: A unit with this complaint can attempt to dispel 1 endless spell in your hero phase. you can see it heer https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/AoS_Warscrolls//aos_longbeards_eng.pdf
1) Yes but Dwarf already have 2 armies in the game. Empire has none. There are now 3 Dwarf start collecting boxes. Empire has 0. 2) Maybe a new "surprise" Dwarfs will turn up, who have lizards feet and long tongues. 3) Dwarfs = short, fat bearded men who don't ride anything, don't use magic, don't have any monsters. Empire has the schools of magic, griffons, STEAM TANK!, Knights of the White Wolf, Knights Panther, Knights of the Blazing Sun.
O yeah, I meant more as to why GW never really did anything with araby and such. Obviously at this point the empire is getting some bonus points simply for exisiting
1) if we are counting fyre slyers and KOL then it would be unfare not to count storm cast they are both just sooped up mortals into immortal killers and so if we are counting fyre slayers boxess we have to count storm cast boxess 2 so old times chaos dwarvevs? 3 they ride magmadrothes doomsday divises of there own creation such as doom rollers the above mentioned gyrocopters and other dwarves. dwarves use magic they just dont cast spells they bind the winds of magic into there weapons and armor and drain the latent magic from the air. the dwarves build the steam tanks for the empire always have.
I was gonna weigh in, but @Erta Wanderer has it covered lol. *laughs to self* dwarves in seraphon box, lol.
It got better, but that initial launch was terrible. Kind of funny retrospect comparing the Finecast and Contrast hype and launches. Despite the flaws, would still take Finecast over pewter due to paint chipping.
I understand that you would've wanted steam tanks and demigryph in a start collecting upon release (it felt a bit weird not getting one i'll admit), i just don't get why you make it such a big issue. For all we know they'll release an empire battleforce around christmas. GW can't make 100% of the community happy with every single release. With the amount of units in the CoS roster someone was gonna be left in the dark for sure.
Of course I know GW can't make 100% of the community happy all the time. I just want them to make me happy! There is no guarantee we will see an Empire battleforce at Christmas. No one knows what the battleforce boxes will be. Also they never make enough of those boxes to last very long. And all the Ebayer box splitters will buy them up and sell them to make £2 profit per box.
Best. Argument. Ever. I wish they'd prolong battleforce boxes and do them more often than once a year. Idem with the boxes with 2 armies that fight eachother. Those things are amazing for growing a collection, but they dissappear insanely quickly.
My conclusion is that GW just wants to be awkward. For example.... They only stick with proven miniatures (Space Marines). They refuse to sell box sets to people that they would actually want, and force them instead to collect what they want (Stormcast, Dwarfs). They refuse to update popular battle tombs, and instead concentrate on creating more Dwarf factions (no person, who was healthy in the mind would actually want). They constantly ask for more and more gold for their products and never adjust prices downwards. The best miniatures they create (Fiends, Carnosaur, any large cool looking monster) will either be over costed or under powered. Your armies will only be made out of, Skinks, Clanrats, Witch Elf's, Plague Monks or some other form of chaff infantry you will die of boredom trying to get to the table. Finally when you say "Great, Kill Team for AoS!", you will find out that they took all the factions out you would want to play, and instead gave you 6 flavours of Chaos Marauders, at the cost of not being able to use your basic Chaos models that look better and you already had.
wow i'm a negative Nancy and this is just waaaaay to much some of your points are valid but you have a epic hate boner for dwarves. ok lets adreas the points you made disposesd is not a new faction its an old an much loved faction. slayers came out right after our battle tome did so its not new and KOL is pushing 3 years now they are a business that wants to make munny brekit is making things weird wile it is true that hordes are good this is an objective game monsters have a large presence and can work very well like helpit abominations mangler squigs terrorgysts maw crushas and magmadraths are all steler choises and the new huricanum is just dumb lvls of powerful dude it just came out and they are going for a story feel calm down we are going to get the rest of them it just takes time. and wile i hate chaos i like a lot of the models they have come out with the oger they droped today is narly
Better to have tried and failed than not tried at all. It’s not as if GW were down on their luck in terms of finances. They are the biggest Wargames company in the world, and can afford to take risks. They’ve already done so with Ossiarch and other new factions to mixed reviews, so why don’t they show some guts do the same with a new human faction? I say they should stop wasting money on nonsense like POP collectibles and Warhammer Advantures and do more to expand the worlds of their games rather than messing with the same old rubbish. Excuse me? Dwarfs have Runesmiths who forge magical runes to dispel magic and use it to develop killer weapons and solid armour. They build all sorts of inventions from helicopters and airships to organ guns and flamethrowing cannons, and they also use runes to make these more reliable than and generally superior to any ramshackle contraptions the men of the Empire can make (including the Steam Tank, which is no match lorewise for the Kharadron airships for example). The fact that the Fantasy Dwarfs don’t ride anything makes sense in lore (short legs), and if we’re counting the AoS Dwarf factions as well (as you are in your first point), then Dwarfs do ride something and do have monsters (Magmadroths), so already your point is invalid. Empire Knightly Orders are just bog-standard 15th Century Knights with different liveries, nothing special there except the Orders themselves are different from anything existing in 15th Century Europe. Griffons are also used by the High Elves (and any faction can take them in Storm of Magic), and their cousins the Hippogryphs are ridden by the Bretonnians. Again, nothing unique there. The schools of magic may dabble in a bit of everything, but they use only the 8 standard lores, which High Elves and Slann are much better at using anyway, and haven’t developed any unique magic of their own.
i would love to see what they come up with for sigmar humans they have so many crazy ideas and i think a lot of them could be realy cool. but i love death claw and frans and great swords and espeshaly demigrifs. so ultimatly im glad that they kept the old stuf and im glad that it finaly got updated a truer statement has never been sead.
I disagree, its actually great marketing and a way to attract people that might be into other aspects of the lore outside of building and painting models. gotta think outside the box. we play a miniatures game, but GW needs to reach out to more than just us... hence the books, the video games, the upcoming comic book partnership with marvell…. when you are a company that big you have to be looking to expand your market... int eh world of business if you're stagnant, you're dead
yes and all of the things you mentioned are great with the exeption of the comic deal the last time they tried that was a disaster. but the two i was refering to are both awful. funco pops have such a bad reputation that it might have a negative effect and adventures is a blight sent by nurgle. what on earth where they thinking?
