The one thing you have to remember is that GW like to tease releases with a small trailer - I haven’t seen anything of the kind for Khorne, let alone Seraphon (although I interpreted that trailer at the Open Day as possibly being Seraphon so we may have to see), and we won’t get anything AoS related until all this Shadowspear rubbish has died down, which, knowing GW, probably won’t happen for another couple of weeks yet, and then it’ll be Khorne after that.

I would like to see a plastic Slann with more customisation than the old monopose model (might actually persuade me to get one ;)) but what I would like most is to have the army less reliant on a Slann, i.e. a full Saurus list without Slann or Skinks becoming much more of a viable option. I want to see my badass Saurus Warriors tearing through units in a couple of turns, not being reduced to horde chaff swamping the enemy with numbers like a mere Skaven or Skeleton.

Of course if none of this happens and they just release Endless Spells and a book that further boosts Slann and Skinks leaving Saurus in the dust, there’s always the Fyreslayers update that will doubtlessly be following to look forward to (I still haven’t bought the Gloomspite Gitz or Skaven books yet - I’ve got loads of catching up to do).

I have this weird feeling about the Kroxigor sculpts being updated to plastic, similar to how the Rockguts where updated but then the Rockguts were old.
The feeling comes because of the Troggoths, the many complaints about the kit and plenty asking of different proxies.
If we were to get a Seraphon vs Khorne box I can imagine plastic Kroxigor being part of that box.

I’d like that as well (again, might actually motivate me to buy some :D)

The thought came to mind and it makes me think whether this will be true, but it's just a strange feeling and may not happen. How it seems each book has the endless spells of course but also either a new model or an updated one. Khorne getting an updated Hero is one example. Well it depends if they follow this pattern.

I'd find it extremely unlikely for them to not update at least some models when they do the battletome. It's an easy way to increase the hype of that particular army. And that's ignoring the fact that some of the current models are just rather outdated..

Well... I wouldn't call it that unlikely, they did the same for the Beastmen. No new models except the herdstone.

On paper updating some of our old model seems smart, but when i see skaven update treatment. I dont thinks they will ( even if i'd love ! )

While in my local GW, i asked about the battletome update and the guy said that there was nothing wrong with it and it's unlikely to get an update?

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In the meantime, ill keep summoning skinks.

I've been thinking it's going to be kroxigors myself. Total War had been a pretty big success, and one thing i keep hearing is how cool their in game kroxigor model looks. It's also quite different than the current one, looking more hulking and more crocodilian. Then we had the December 11 rumor image that looks very seraphon back scale like. At the time, most people pegged it as troggoth scales. I have combed over the new troggoth and squig models and it really doesn't match. Same for slaanesh and black legion. So imo it's still unresolved. Of course it could as easily be saurus or skinks or something else entirely, these rumor images are notoriously misleading (though the chaos ones were pretty clear).

I just bought a 3rd metal krox as I had two from 5th edition (when Kroxigors could be in Skink units). I don't really see running them now, but wanted 3 just in case. I would be kind of happy to have a reason to field two units of them (especially since none of my three match).

@Killer Angel, I agree, I think our battletomb & warscrolls need a bit of update & polish. But I must confess, whenever my friends and I watch battle reports on YouTube, Seraphon pull out the win more often than not... or they get curb stomped. If fact, in one of the last videos I watched, the people joked about how Seraphon are pretty good, unless you ask a Seraphon player.

@Aktanolt I'm also concerned that GW could remove, or limit, the Slann from our combat lists. GW may not remove Slann from our lore, but if Dying Star is an actual indication of where they want to go, and not just a dramatic short story, then it's a logical assumption. Even if they just make the only Slann you can take be expensive named characters (Like Kroak or Mazdamundi), that would limit us.

@little-myth and @Val Muna to the actual OP, I also think Kroxigors could be the new model. That photo could be a kroxigor tail. Fingers crossed.

If nothing else we need a reprint just to deal with the long list of errata and F.A.Q.'s.. claiming that abattletome isn't needed is just weird...

Maybe cuz seraphon players want an army outside skinks and razordons. I've honestly never liked fielding lots of skinks. I picked up lizardmen for the saurus. Until I can properly field a saurus list I will considered the codex bad. Screw the idea of a bunch of pansy tiny dinos just clogging the board up.

I'm more of a combined arms kinda guy. I like the role of skinks and saurus. I don't like mono-unit spam of any sort.

The battletome which was first in a whole new game system, which changed it development course, cannot be good. Just look at the vague wordings - they all need to be rewritten. Allegience rules, 1-2 magic disciplines, 6 warlord traits for every subfactions, prayers, special class artefacts, mount traits - these are standarts for every new battletome. It is a miracle, that we can put up a fight and even win tournaments sometimes.

The one main benefit of the General’s Handbook - it’s helped to mitigate the powercreep a little. If this had occurred in GW’s old era where no such thing existed, Seraphon would most likely have been a dead army.

But yes, surely GW must realise that they can’t keep giving their favourites Khorne and Sigmarines all the glory all the time - they have to attend to the oldest armies in between as a high priority task. Surely they’ve learnt from Fantasy’s fall to not leave the oldest armies in the lurch forever anymore...

I like the idea of 1 or 2 units of skinks acting as chaff, but fluffwise I see no reason for skinks to be the main fighting force or even speed bump for our army, but then again I hate that we are space deamon dinos. Like wtf i bought into Warhammer 10 years ago to play some Mayan/Aztec dinos that helped protect and shape the old world so the little races could grow big and strong. Man I wish the Slann just created their own realm/planet that was like Lustria and we could forget this whole we fly spaceship bullshit and win games by simply having too many bodies on the table that run from combat....

Sorry I rant, I miss our old fluff :/

We are still competitive (not top-tier, but still good), thanks to Summoning and LoSaT. Two abilities that came with the GHB and so are on the same level of goodness of the new battletomes.
Otherwise we would be dead meat, and even then it requires a good tactic to play against other armies that don't require skill at all to crush the opponent.

A Slann costs 260 pts. Casts 3 spells OR summons. Got 7 wounds, save 4+, and you don't want to face melee. Can negate battleshock within 12" if she's the general.
A Verminlord Warpseer costs 260 pts. Casts 2 spells (one of them for d6 MW and halves move). Got 12 pts, a save 4+ rerollable and feel no pain 5+. In melee one of its weapons got 6 attacks for d3 damages. Can negate battleshock within 26" even if she's not the general.

I could continue, and the comparisons would always be embarassing for us.
