LRL has been our for less then a year not sure they need a update already. especially since we have had some factions out for years with less of a model range and others that still have finecast. fair point on soul blight though
Though this is another mounted unit for Lumineth, next to the dawnriders. It might not be the last mounted unit they will get (Warrior or Hero). Because watching the new year teaser video they showed us this: which not quite looks like the kangaroos that you showed us. This is more of a Camel. Also the shields on the sides look different. So, more to come. Perhaps the 'Devine' part of next weekend's Preview?? Grrr, Imrahil
In fairness, the vampires aren't currently a fullfledged army. Updating them to actually be an army seem fair enough. Imho LRL probably should've just been released as 1 set, so both the release from last year and this update at once. Same with Slaanesh. Now we get an army that on the one hand gets updated too quickly, but without the update it's only half-done and lacks options.
a stagard release isn't that bad. it means that your faction is still getting new stuff down the rode we don't want LRL in the same position as the rest of us. but they really need to throw in some things for all the neglected factions. seeing slanesh and LRL get new stuff wouldn't hurt so much if the rest of us where already working on painting our new toys
Meh, a staggered release is not so much new stuff as much as the first round is just incomplete. Don't get me wrong, getting new stuff down the line is always nice. But starting with only 4 troops because the release artificially gets staggered isn't exactly great.
4 troops is as many as fyre slayers, OBR, and KO have and none of them got a second release. having a solid base and then getting steady expansions is far better then most get
Well, didn’t see that coming... But it does strangely work. The only thing is, why are Lumineth getting a second wave? Why the hell didn’t GW release these last year in their big intro release? No, but close, I can certainly see them being used as Exotide conversions. Just so unnecessary given there are enough already in Legions of Nagash. And pretty awful-looking to boot. 2021 looks to be the crappest year on record for AoS releases. No need to gloat
Exactly! Fyreslayers and Kharadron in particular deserve a second wave far more than Lumineth and shitty Slaanesh, Fyreslayers because they need some more units in general and Kharadron because they could do with a couple of other Battleline units for variety.
I don't think it will be either, Lizardmen have scales on their legs and the foot looks too narrow for a Dracoline, who have feet like a lion's. It's probably going to be something like a Ghoul as the way the leg is angled hints it will be something acrobatic.
some good points, it could be as well. What would you make of the stone/ornaments and the sticky stuff hanging off of it? Grrr, Imrahil
The stone looks like the architecture in most of the AoS scenery. The sticky stuff is probably blood or something, especially if it's a Ghoul because they play with their food
New Soulblight model looks awesome, really excited to see vampires get their own line. Been a really long time since vampires had some updates.
My point is that I don't really think LRL & Slaanesh have a particularly solid base, there are glaring holes in their rosters. Slaanesh completly lacks mortal troops; leaving a rather gaping hole fluff-wise. They also have very few choices as they lack load-out options & alternatives within the same unit type. They have a rather large variaty in terms of heroes though for some reason. LRL completly lacks choice as they only really have 1 unit per battlefield role and no load-out options whatsoever. So why release it in two waves when you have such glaring holes. Might as well just release it as one. Or at least make sure the initial release doesn't have these issues. Well what else am I going to do with my time? Meh, if we get decent vampires I don't mind. Especially if something interesting is done with them lore-wise. If they just follow Nagash then it's kind of a waste. Though at least it's an update of the models I guess. undead, like @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl says, the way its leg bends is how a lot of the ghouls and crypt flayers and the like have their legs.
I think there are some rumors of lycanthropes being in the upcoming undead releases. If so, maybe as a part of the Soulblight update? I remember a rather "wolf-like" foot in another rumor from last year. Now there's this one which looks rather bestial.
Not if you use them in a Big Waaagh! army. I think that is why they were put into one Battletome. But to be honest, I would like some Ironjawz crossbow unit or something at least Grrr, Imrahil
That's fair. I thought of that. But, for most of AoS they were just Ironjawz with those same unit types.
