I just checked gw online store and kroak is still sold out, but the price has changed to $98. Do you think that's the price of this new kit? He was $65 before if I recall
I just bought him last October. He was $55 USD. $98 is the cost if you are buying him in New Zealand. I would bet that he is in the $55-$80 range considering that Sigvald was $55 and these seem similar-ish in size. Kroak may be a bit bigger.
This absolutely made my day!! Our first new model since AOS came out, and it's freaking Lord Kroak!!! I've theorized here before that they might give him the god model treatment, and it looks like that's exactly what he's getting! I was even saying just the other day that it would be awesome if Lord kroak decided to intervene personally, and again that's exactly what's happening. His model even looks like what I was hoping it would. Floating on his throne surrounded by Magic energy and it looks like more artifacts from the old ones. Do I think it will be a slight Nerf overall? Yes. He will undoubtedly be very expensive to bring, and probably not quite as effective as he is now with his whole Entourage. But given that they are taking the approach that he is one of the best wizards around, and seeing how Teclis is pretty darn strong just on his own, I am cautiously optimistic that his new warscroll rules will be good.
I'm absolutely blown over by how awesome that new model is, completely left field announcement also, I have to admit i was worried we weren't going to get any new models anytime soon! Lucky I just ordered his old model last week, waiting for it to arrive, may leave sealed now lol!
Not going to lie, I was thinking last night about how disappoint this BR release would be if we only got a repackaged box battalion and a small spot in the lore. Now? This is going to be a knock down drag out fight. And I HOPE TO SOTEK that Kroak snaps his mummified fingers on Be'lakor, Thanosing that overgrown, midnight tinted Bloodletter wannabe.
The announcement trailer has Morathi saying about Lord Kroak: "What we cannot kill, we must redirect." So I'm guessing that she's hoping to get the Seraphon to focus on fighting Chaos and/or Death and ignoring her. Which, to be fair, isn't going to be hard to do since we basically only care about stopping Chaos anyway.
Guessing it's too big for the balewind now, which removes at least some part of what made him so difficult to balance. Hopefully they finally figured out what to do with celestial deliverance so it's no longer either super oppressive or far too weak to be worthwhile. I'm curious if guards will still be able to guard him. On the one hand, a god model with guards seems like something that could easily become problematic, on the other hand guards are already extremely limited in what they can actually do. Removing one of the two models they can actually guard seems rather lame. Maybe we'l get a guard rework by extention. Hopefully this also means a small update for the regular slann. With Kroak formally ascending to be among the god-models proper there's room for the regular slann to do a bit more. Would be nice to make a plain slann a bit more interesting. Really curious about this warscroll, even if I don't particularly like god-models. Also, amazing model; already feeling guilty about how badly I'l paint him. Bit of a shame this came after our tome though. Not nearly as weird as the LRL and Slaanesh getting double releases, but I'd still love to know what weird logic GW bases it's scheduling on.
Love the new Kroak model, I wonder if inspired by the old art of him (Not sure if brought up yet, too tired to look through the comments) What Kroak is holding just looks similar along with other parts
I've only been this ecstatic about one other model GW ever made and it was the Silent King. Oh man I'm so happy right now! I wonder if Morathi was talking to him or about him?
That's the rub. I'm betting about him, since I doubt he has any interest in her at the moment. But with how tricksy and slithery she is, there's no telling how she might draw his ire. Chaos meddling, being a little too corrupt by her time in Slaanesh's belly? Or perhaps it has to do with her and Malerion having schemes.
I mean, she was activly breaking Slaanesh's bonds to attain godhood, some seraphon retribution seems warranted.
I'd be mildly amused if that they decide that he doesn't need the Balewind anymore by virtue of being his own Balewind. I wouldn't be surprised by a return of Ruination of Cities either. Courtesy of the Scour special ability that the new LRL fox-spirit character has, I can see him getting the ability to deny terrain pieces via a spell-based minigame. I would certainly hope that our guard units can be more than merely an ablative meat shield. I kind of like what the SCE Protectors' Wall of Blades ability can do, which could be worked into a shield wall ability.
Alternativly, balewind on top of a balewind? But yeah, very much expect him to no longer be able to use balewind given how he looks now. Mwha, I'd rather not see anything like that. For starters there's not enough terrain used in most AoS games to really make that interesting. Yeah it's devastating if you get to take out a key faction terrain piece, but that's once per game at best. And aside from that, it isn't exactly fun for whomever relies on that faction terrain either, especially as a spell that can presumably be used from range. Even that fox and the giant need to at least walk up to the terrain piece, even if neither of them really strugle with that. Honestly, at this point I'd take anything. Allow them to guard skinks & saurus as well so they're not chained to the slann, give them something like the SCE protectors, making them super good at protecting an objective. Just something so they're actually a fullfledged unit in their own right and not just a glorified slann upgrade.
Given that the article says "after all this time, Kroak only seems to have grown in power. This is represented in your games with a new warscroll", i believe he could be even stronger than now. And obviously with a points increase.
Let’s hope this means some huge oversight like giving him a ‘Superior Comet’s Call’, allowing us to bring a Slann too and cast both.
Holy hell that is a nice model. Normally I am not a fan of centerpiece models, but this one is amazing for sure.
