...sigh...such a GW move; Replace a popularly played/owned unit with a new shinier one that comes with less minis yet for a higher price tag and with no doubt very strong in-game stats - but just for the first few months after release that is, because again, this is GW - all of which is done to drive high demand & high sales of said new shiny unit. I shouldn't be surprised, but here I am with egg on my face *smh-while-staring-at-mirror*. Sidenote: It was definitely odd going to the Seraphon US GW store page and it saying there's only 17 results now whereas i'm pretty sure it used to have almost 30 not too long ago (...it's been a while since I've been to it so can't say for sure lol)
I like the new knights. They did em justice. I love love FUCKIN LOVE them new kroxigors. Both variants. *Mwah* kroxigors gone wild is gonna happen. If they made the knights look that magnificent just imagine what a troglodon or carnosaur updated and given a fancier name is gonna look like? My God they may be a dogshit greed run company but God damn are they good at making plastic look pretty
They said this is everything new, so no more reveals. This means no new Razordons or Saurus Guard, unless they're hidden as alternate builds in the Salamander/Saurus Warrior kits. I'm hoping those units aren't just getting dropped completely...
I hope they aren't dropped as well. I can't imagine Guard are gone, but I could see the Razordon getting shelved. It might be possible to kitbash Guard from the new Warriors. I wonder what a Guard head swap would look like?
You wouldn't think so, but I can definitely imagine GW removing them. People hate how they are able to protect the Slann, and a lot of Seraphon players hate having to take them to protect the Slann and Kroak. It would be very GW-like to give us a ton of new powerful stuff while nerfing the old stuff...
Yeah... that's true. Other armies have units to which a hero can dump off wounds, but maybe not heroes as important and powerful as a Slann. I guess we'll just have to wait until Summer to see.
Slaves just had a pretty big release. Only 1 of them is that impressive. New models equals good rules has unfortunately never really been true. The knights model was widely unliked.. Keeping the same base size would be convenient but this way we get better models. I think it's a trade most would make, personally. I get it but it's hard to be too upset with a range update of this caliber.
Fair & true. New stuff is always nice & welcome so I shouldn't complain too much. ...So much for the Dark Elf Cold Ones I had sitting around to convert for Saurus Knights tho, lol
If I'd have to make a guess it's probably similar to the two eel variants the Idoneth have. So similar-ish stat-blocks but different abilities that make one more defensive the other more offensive. I think we had 28 Honestly, mechanicly the guard suck. They're just a glorified slann-upgrade. So in that sense I can understand dumping them. However, if you dump them we no longer have any sort of elite infantry. Unless warriors become a hell of a lot better I doubt we'd lose guard completly.
Well, my opinion is really biased since I am not AOS player and I love most of the old models from WF since I was a teenager, but here it is anyway - Love the new Slann. But seriously, I love that fat guy. Awesome model. - Love the new saurus warriors BUT completely hate those shields. I very much dislike the "celestial" vibe instead of the more tribal/mystic one. I feel very very relief though that the models are very detailed but they do not feel bloated with random stuff (which is my feeling with most AOS units). I am afraid though they might be too large to rank them in the old squared bases - I won't comment much on the skink cavalry since I won't be using them anyway. But those skink faces are, IMHO, horrible. My lovely skinks from OnePageMiniatures are way way better. I am afraid that this will be the new style once new skinks are released. - The knights are quite awesome, but no way the fit the old cold one bases, so I probably won't be getting them. Also, I kind of like the less serious and more stupid look of old Warhammer models, and nothing seems more stupid than an old cold one model. - Saurus bearer and skink startpriest are maybe again too "celestial" for my taste. - Scar veteran looks awesome. - Kroxigors... what the heck... - Kroxigor Warspawned: better than the prior, but still... not convinced. They look too... human? Again, OnePageMiniatures models are much better IMO, or the ones in total war
Well the regular kroxigor have draconith style heads and seeing the new kroxigor having them is pretty cool but I love both.
One of the things I'll be very curious to see is our updated battleline. I imagine the new Saurus Knights are no longer battleline. Guard might get taken off of there as well. My guess is that only Warriors and Skinks are battleline with others added by subfaction.
Given that they have taken the spot of the current Saurus Knights, I'm pretty sure the new Skink Cav will be Battleline too.
Aggradons are probably battleline if general is a mounted Scar Vet / Old Blood. Raptodons are maybe battleline in Fangs of Sotek, given the faction's emphasis on skinks? The main one I'm holding out for is Kroxigor battleline. Maybe in Thunder Lizard?
