My take on the new Aggradons - Cold ones and Aggradons are different species and so to me its not a replacement and more of a change of unit. - Not being able to use the knights at all would be stupid so I hope there will still be playable in the future. It also gives us variety and some of us enjoyed painting our knights fairly recently, I know I have. - Aggradon faces look a bit derpy and kind of have this look that says "I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing" on them lol On a more interesting note, the scales remind me of the carnosaur as does the golden thing on the side of its face. I do actually like them though and the new scar vet. Might pick up the hero when it comes out along with that box of models with the 10 raptadons.
I don't know that they will have a knight replacement. It might be, "you can play with your knights in the old world system we are going to release." I do like the aggradons, but there is a good chance that I just beef up the bases on my 45 knights. Or I see if I can fit two on each for GW kosher proxies for tournaments (was planning to start hitting the circuits this summer).
I Race you, I want that box too ha. But eh I don't think they will bring back cold ones in AoS, what would they do differently to Aggradons?
Hi all, do we have any speculation about pricing for the 2023 range known so far? I need to plan my remaining hobby budget ;-)
Just guesses based on current/new GW models: $85 - $110 for new Slann $85 - $100 for the new Saurus Cav $75 - $80 for the Skink Cav $60 - $70 for new Saurus Warriors $40 - $50 for new Salamander $40 - $50 for new Starseer $35 - $45 for new Astrolith
Looks about right. Guessing the Early Release Box will be about 210-215, which puts it at about a 39%-47% discount with 1 Slann, 2x Riders, 1 Warriors, and 1 Battletome.
Honestly, I could see it being more expensive. I think it has all of those minis, a collectors battletome, warscroll cards and enhancement cards. Maybe around $250 - $300? I forgot Kroxigor $65 - $75 for new Kroxigor/Warspawn
That is a fair point, looking back at other early release boxes, we should expect 25%-30% off (if you value the battletome at $55 and not the S.E. price of $80+). Me and my pocketbook is going to pray for $220 though (I can dream, can't I?)
I'm pre ordering it the minute it goes live without hesitation but knowing my luck it will be gone before I have the chance They'd look differently lol
That was another joke I wanted to make: Hello new models, goodbye cheaper prices. I felt like some of our kits had a bit of legacy pricing for a while. The Start Collecting was pretty cheap for what you got... for GW.
Im expecting them to be pricey. I just know these were sitting in a drawer somewhere for years under the label, "Release in case of low quarter sales" . lol
It's getting a bit silly though. Especially the start-collecting boxes, they used to be 50-60 euro, which is pretty doable as a birthday gift and makes a pretty doable start to introduce a new player. Now they're around a 90-110, which is increadibly steep for a starter box. You don't even have the paints yet, let alone a full army. Hell, at this point start collecting box is becoming comparable in prize to the boxed armies (at least the medium sized ones), where you get more stuff & you actually get two faction so you can actually play. Which is kind of the most annoying part of GW's prizing, it makes absolutly zero sense.
They are producing models at 100% capacity and still cannot satisfy demand. So, it makes perfect sense.
I so agree here and if I came any later to the hobby I would have been deterred. Its one of the reason I've stayed away from 40k because of the combat patrol prices. Even the boarding patrol is a just out of my monthly budget range so I end up just buying other stuff. Plus I like buying a unit at a time or I end up with a huge backlog.
I feel you. my budget range is "i don't want to think too much about it"... seriously, there are months when my wallet is closed and happy, while other ones when i spend what i've managed to save in the previous 60 days, and a little more.
I'm really liking the new range so far. I'll almost certainly get the new release box when it comes out, although with me already having so many Saurus Warriors and even OnePageRules Saurus, I probably won't buy any more new Warriors. Same with Kroxigors. Very glad to see them getting new models finally, but I honestly still prefer my 3d-printed ones so I'll probably stick with those. I'll definitely be getting some of the new Skink and Saurus cavalry though! I've said for ages that Seraphon deserved to have better cavalry and it looks like we're finally getting it. The Skink cav will probably fulfill the fast skirmish/screen cav role that we're currently lacking, and the Saurus cav will hopefully be able to hit hard and take some damage on a similar level to other 3-man heavy cav units. Out of the new foot heroes, I *may* get the new Astrolith Bearer just because it looks so good! But I actually like the old Starseer better than the new one, so I'm not sure if I'll end up getting that one or not. So far I feel like even though I still don't like 3rd edition's core rules as much as I did second, GW has done a better job balancing the 3e battletomes. Hopefully ours will be strong but not so OP that people hate us. But my main concern is that I *really* hope they fix the army divide problem we have. I want to be able to run Skinks, Saurus and dinos all in one army finally please! lol! Probably won't happen, as GW still clearly pushes the "spam this unit" playstyle with it's subfactions. But here's hoping we at least get better allegiance abilities and base Starborne/Coalesced rules. Hopefully sumoning either gets removed or reworked so that it doesn't rely on having specific unit types and *not* casting spells. And I really hope that Coalesced drops the jaw attack and -1 damage for extra rend and a ward save. (I'm assuming our warscrolls are still going to be low-rend, mediocre stats that rely on buffs, but if we *finally* get good base warscrolls I'll be over the moon!)
I'm gonna eventually get enough kroxigors to run only them and a few choice hq units. Kroxigors gone wild will be a thing
