Really exciting stuff so far. Spells and artifacts are good. Allegiance abilities are good, but kind of sad Scaly Skin is -1 damage still and not a ward save. For the most part my longtime wish for better base warscrolls has been granted.

Kroak looks awesome! His signature spell no longer becomes harder to cast and he's picked up some other cool abilities as well. Realmshaper is a bit meh now, but still useful. Saurus finally look like they will be able to kick butt, the Carnosaurs got rend, pretty much everything got rend! Troglodon can actually do something besides channel spells now! Ripperdactyls may be good again.

Not sure why they're keeping the old Saurus Guard models but dumping all the other old stuff, rip Razordons, Sunblood and especially Skink Priest. Do we just not have Priests or prayers in the army anymore? That seems really stupid. Other than that, looking forward to playing with the new book!

Overall seems to be just as strong as our current book, albeit a shift in the units we will be taking. Could have been a lot worse. Seems solid.

"Once per battle" command traits/relics should not even exist. Horrible game design.

If Coalesced, melee support Slann confirmed? Dominating Mind/Ixi Grubs - Empowered Celestite/Itzl's Invigoration/Telepathic Summons?

Missed that one! Looks good, but is hotly contested by the trait letting you pick two more spells, only because it's once per battle.

The Saurus trait for free movement is also nice. Lots of builds to try out!

Argh... Slann still only know the one regular spell lore spell... so Master of the Material Plane is pretty important.

Interesting looking changes from what I've read. I must confess, I was hoping for a new subfaction for each branch.

Also, are we running around without mount traits again?

When do we usually see the warcry compendium updated for a range rework?

Can't help but wonder if they're dropping the idea of mount traits in general. I haven't seen any in a new tome for a while.

Agreed, Kixi-taka was my boi, and I ran him as my vanilla priest outside of fun matches.

I really like update to the bodyguard mechanic, but a native 3+ save is pretty awesome on it's own too! Warriors get a built in bonus to saves while contesting, but being able to push the guard to a 2+ is kinda nuts.

It seems by looking at the leaked points profile, my wish for Kroxigor was right.

Battleline Kroxigor wooo! Well it lacks a hero Kroxigor leader that was also on the wishlist but I can go with Koatl's Claw Kroxigors.
Need to do a recount of how many Kroxs I have, except the new upcoming ones of course.

In general I like the new book, I'm a bit sad about Basti (I think if he had 4 attacks it would be better), now for 35 more points, you can use the stegadon, same attack range (the difference is rend -1 vs - 3) but it is better in melee.
The krox lose 3" movement, but the profile is better(i dont understand the diference for only 10 point when the warspawned is better)

the engine go to the showcase, but the troglodon i think in viable now

looks again. the ark is wonderful in melee and his new monster rage is rather potent as well. on top of that he doesn't degrade any more so he will be a thorn in anyone's side.

the trog is GREAT! so exited to take him

In thunder lizards you can output a pretty insane amount of wounds with a single sotek bastiladon, D6+D3 MWs from Sweep and Stomp monsterous rampages and then a respectable amount of damage from the attacks (avg of ~6 for a unit with a 6+ ward, all the way up to ~12 for something without a ward)

    Solar Engine main weapon: 4
    Ark of Sotek main weapon: 2.78 + 3.34 MW = 6.1
    Meteoric Javelins: 0.45
    Bludgeoning Tail: 1.78

I guess sitting a Solar Engine on a back objective and lasering all game might still be ok, but not amazeballs by any stretch. Really throwing an Ark of Sotek into the enemies lines is promising. Chip damage from Javelins + melee + Bastiladon specific Monstrous Rampage really adds a ton of value, especially for the first Bastiladon (no opportunity cost for the Rampage).

Comparison of the Ark of Sotek with a Stegadon is interesting.

    Skystreak Bow: 2.67
    Meteoric Javelins: 0.45
    Melee damage: 6.52

That's not a good look, given that the Stegadon costs 50% more. Not a good look at all.
