Does anyone else feel that the Slann sculpt is a serious weak point for our army?
Compared to newer armies, our ‘centrepiece’ is so lacklustre that it has to be putting off new players. This is a unit which you basically have to field.

I realise that there are other common units that are just as outdated (or more), and that it’s very unlikely to get an update.
I just wonder whether GW realise how ripe for a ‘big expensive kit’ the Slann is.

I completely understand where you are coming from, especially when it comes to Kroak, I would love to see him being remade with a whole load of swirling spirits holding him aloft in the sky but I also like the unassuming nature of the current models. "Oh this little fat frog, don't worry about him he will just be a complete and utter pain and make you rue the day you stepped on to the battlefield.

My favourite memory is when I played against someone who hadn't faced a Slann in a long time and after teleporting around, summoning and getting killed only to come back with the retrices I went to attack one of his heroes and he said "You're out of range" because there were other models blocking the way, my reply that the Slann has a 3" range was met with "Of course he does, why wouldn't he! Man I hate that {insert swear word here} frog! Needless to say I killed off the hero to even more choice remarks :)

    I actually like the sculpt.
Sure, would be better in plastic but I like the way it looks.
We have much worse models IMO.

it works quite well as a supreme master of logic and calm. It fits. Adding in swirling nonsense will probably make the model far too busy. Admittadly some upgrades could be nice. Give us mazdamundi and his mount back or something like that :p

Yeah a Slann on a Steggy would definitely be something!

Gods yes! That’s one of the reasons why I don’t play Seraphon in AoS even though I have heaps of Lizardmen - the fact that GW made the Slann more of an auto-take than he ever was in Fantasy, yet they kept the old mono-pose and static model. At least the Forge World Slann had a bit of imperiousness about him as though he was an experienced commander looking at the enemy with disdain.

While this would look epic, it would be horrendously impractical in terms of storage and transport - that’s why I don’t rate the Lost Kingdom miniatures one despite him looking so much more badass. Same with all the massive miniatures GW make - as well as their crazy prices and taking forever to paint, they must be a real pain to store.

I’d debate that, the Razordon and Salamader models may not look all that good but at least they’re doing something ;)

The slann is contemplating existance and how to shape it in such a way it fits better with the great plan with his magic. Imho the model being static fits perfectly for the calm, super logical, perpetually meditating generals they're supposed to be.

Having said that, they could put the slann on a charging stegadon or something and have the slann be an oasis of calm in the model to pull off the same gravitas (plus it might look even calmer by contrast).

ANyways, for the "basic" slann form this is good. But we should get some alternatives (mounted on a big beasty, sitting on a shrine doing some ritual, directing some skinks that franticly run around the slann, plenty of things possible). Though in all of those the slann itself should Always remain relativly calm and immobile.

I personaly love the current Slann. A misterious and almost unreachable figure, that conjures armies of ancient daemons into reality. And if one manages to get too close, it instantly vanishes away, only to appear at another site of battlefield. He just need a plastic update without changing its concept much. If you want someone to lead form the front - go for Oldblood.

I would also say the slann still looks good. He is so comically fat that the opponent doesn’t expect much, and pretty soon they are in a world of hurt. While I am not against a new slann, I don’t feel it needs a replacement model. GW should instead do a new model for the kroxigor.

To be honest I think the terradons and rippers are up there with our best models. I would prefer that everything in our finecast range gets a new sculpt before some of the the plastic ones do (with the possible exception of Saurus Knights).

Terradons might need a small rule update, but I agree that the models look cool.

for real... I magnetized mine to the stands and the magnet keeps ripping free from the plastic stand when they get bumped during transport.

I'd like at least one of the following:
    - bombs stay one-use, but do reliable damage
    - bombs become multi-use
    - shooting does a bit more damage

Right now they are cheaper than Rippers, which is good, but still not worth it for many purposes because they just aren't that much of a threat.

I personally would give them a rule that reads:

    "bombs away"
Terrordons are able to transport heavy rocks to high altitudes and drop them on the unsuspecting invaders of Lustria below.

During the movement phase you may declare this unit is making a bombing run. If you do, move this unit as normal keeping track of enemy units this unit has at least one model pass over. after the move is completed select an enemy unit that was passed over. For each model in this unit, Roll a d6. on a 2+ inflict 1 mortal wound on the targeted enemy unit. terrordons may not charge or be charged until the start of your next turn.

this gives them multiple uses, and includes a slightly fluffy rule that accounts for the fact that the terrordons are flying way above the targets. yes they cant be fought in melee... but you also cant turn around use them in melee either. shooting would still be allowed because it makes sense to be able to shoot them and shoot from them.
