AoS NEW *rumor*

Guy's, do you ever think that Chaos Dwarfs will ever make a come back in AoS?

They are my favourite faction of all time. Love the Slavic appearance and general Russian theme.

I think they are based on the gulags of Siberia. I never knew why they did not get massive support, some of the models are still mind blowing to this day.
Great Taurus is my #1 big model in the GW collection. The Lamasu. Blunderbusses!

And the Great Axe infantry.

Do any of you remmber the White Dawrf battle report between Chaos Dwarfs and Woof Elf's WHFB. It was my number one battle report of all time.
The wood elf knights charge the Chaos Dwarf axemen but sadly were chopped to pieces.

oh dear. Looking at those forge world models. They look horrible!

There not Chaos Dwarfs! They need to go backwards, they took a wrong turn.

Weren't they based upon old Babilon / Mesopotamian style?

I disagree, to me I see 100% russian influence. The big hats, the red colour, the black beards, swarth appearance.

The mines worked in by slaves etc. They probably said Babylonian because its less likely to upset anybody.

Here is the beautiful wood elf army from the battle report. I can't find the Chaos Dwarf side.

well that'd make you wrong.

This is the sort of warrior they're based on. Which is to say assyrian/babylonian/mesopotanian/very early persian stuffs. You can also see it in their monster roster (they have some monsters from the area, as well as some that are shared with the greeks) and in what little artwork there is of their architecture.

Its more crazy when you mix mortals with daemons. Its weirder and more chaos.
They used to be combined (way back in the day)...

As for the Chaos Dwarfs, I like both the old style and the current Forge World take on the models. Too bad that they are the most expensive army to collect.

Which looks nothing like a Chaos Dwarf at all.

They are based on Russian Corrsacks. The lore is about the Siberian mines where they use to mine Uranium.

They are mixed probably with a bit of this as well for the bulls, but you have to know about the time they were conceived.

It use to be everything was about the cold war in the 80's and 90's. It was the big thing in the news all the time.

Educated people like the people who worked for GW at that time, would know about all that stuff.

In fact its far more clever then you can even imagine, when you understand the reference.

wait are they educated people, or nerds that need to have the rules yanked from their hands so that the battletomes can be used as toilet paper. you cant have it both ways when you try to insult someone for proving you wrong...

Look I know you see me and you want to copy my style. Thanks.

But before you try to catch me out, read what I said first. In the 80’s.

When they invented it all.

eh.. just... what? At least make up something that vaguely makes sense instead of just stringing random sentences together.

Yea its probably before your time.

The original GW guys are 60 + and beyond. Different era. They had completely different influences and ways of understanding things as people do today.

As a gen x, I kind of straddle somewhere in the middle. But if your under 35, you wouldn't even remember how different they use to teach history in those days.

And the Boomer generation was even more different. In those days, no one even placed much emphasis on ancient history, compared to modern history.

The cold war was on and the world was going to end. People were more interested in that stuff. There was no internet. The influences came from what was around them at the time.

But yea, if your not from that time, you wouldn't even be able to comprehend what I am talking about.

Others will nod knowingly however.

hate to break it to you, but if your reported age on the profile sheet is correct, you're a millennial.
