New Starter, Old Head

Hi guys, I used to collect Warhammer a few years ago now and had at points a Dark Elf Army, Empire Army, Vampire Counts Army and dabbled with a Skaven army too. But then i stopped warhammer altogether, but I'm back into it nowwith a mate and deciding on a Lizardmen Army i recently purchased a few things from eBay which include 8 Saurus Warriors and about 8 Skinks as well as a Skink Priest.
Anyone have any tips etc on how to paint these bad boys and make them formiddable?

Welcome to Lustria. Glad you decided to follow the true path of the Old Ones! For ideas of painting, check out the Painting and Converting forum. There are some very formidable Lizardmen there.

What i meant by formidable army was if i buy more warriors etc to add to my army, what are the best things to make my army better?

Well ... What have you allready got ?
do you have enought core units to actualy play a game ?

Well atm I've got 8 saurus warriors in the post aswell as a few skinks which I purchased from eBay, but the seller didn't specify how many skinks there was and I've got a skink priest.
I know that I'll need a few more saurus and skinks to make some units up but apart from that could you recommend anymore units for me to look in to?

Well my Lizardmen army is coming together now, i went to G.W with my mate and purchased some paints and a Saurus Warrior box set, so now my army stands at:
1 Skink Priest
24 Saurus Warriors

I also purchased a stegadon and 10 temple guard from eBay so just waiting for them to be delivered.

Also can you use old models for battles?
Because i have found a unit of 20 skinks on eBay but don't know if they're newer ones or older ones they are all one piece so no need to stick arms, heads on etc.

Those are probaly shortbow skinks...
yea, we can't use shortbows any more.
but you could use them and say they are something ealse.

Okay mate thanks, just thought it's better to ask before I commit, think I need to loll into purchasing a lizardmen book now found 1 at £5.00 but it's the paperback one is that the upto date one?

Yeah I will keep looking, there isn't any chance of Lizardmen bringing out another book soon is there? Because I don't want to buy a new book for another new one to come out.

Okay, well ive added to the ranks ive purchased a oldblood champion, a skink champion and 24 skinks to add to my 24 saurus warriors, 10 temple guard and skink priest
