AoS Newbie 1250pt List

Hello All,

Playing a game vs my mates Gitz/Trolls.

Looking to take the following list:

LEADERS
Skink Starpriest (80)
Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240)
- War Spear

UNITS
20 x Skinks (140)
- Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
20 x Skinks (140)
- Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers
3 x Kroxigor (150)
- 1 x Moonhammers
3 x Skink Handlers (40)
3 x Razordons (120)

BEHEMOTHS
Bastiladon (280)
- Weapon : Solar Engine

I am very new to the game so just built this list around models I have painted. What concerns me a bit I was looking at his army an most of them have loads of wounds and regenerate.

I was thinking of using star priest to summon more skinks and possibly my salamanders?

I do have the following in reserve/painted if I want to change up the list

Loads more Skinks with bolt spitters and Javelins
Salamanders x 3
Knights x 5
Warriors x 10

Any feedback and advice? I do have a 2nd getting starter box and Stegadon which I am building as an Engine. Also have a Slann but he seems to expensive for this list.

Only Slann are able to summon. If you want to summon you will want to fit one into your list.

Ahh gotcha - thanks I think at this game level Slann is to expensive

Sadly, slaan is never too expensive for what he provides to us maybe he wont be one day

So I played the above list and by turn two.. I should have just packed up.. between my opponents hot rolls, having bad moon land 'exactly' where he needed it.. making every single charge.. I got tabled.

Kroxigors got smacked in one combat turn - didn't even get to swing
Carnasaur lasted 3 rounds engaged - did not land anything worthwhile
Razadorns did ok though he did target my handlers.. right away
Bastiladon last a few rounds but did not do much.

What I got out of this defeat:

• Bolt Spitter Skinks is where it's at.. they didn't do a lot of damage but they tied up a few units.
• Javelin Skinks - I should green stuff the javelins to bolt spitters..
• Skink Star Priest - did not do much. Did get surrounded by those hopping squigs and got smacked hard.
• Third time playing Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur and 3 times he has not done anything to justify the point cost.

Hot tip: don't present your list up front a week before game... :/


And Slann - Slann - Slann - every single list I see him.. no matter the point level always has a Slann..
I have one but not painted - and I don't like to play with grey models..

Looks like I am putting my Engine on hold and painting a slann :/
