A little bit of progress... but I guess progress none the less.

I've got the lower legs and upper legs pinned together on the model's left side (using coat hanger wire), so it should be nice and stable now. The cast is pretty rough in comparison to GW's, so the joint on its own was a little bit too insecure for my liking.

 

More assembly and a bunch of gap filling...



The coat hanger pin worked out very well. The bond between the upper and lower legs seems very strong. It also helped that I used a 2 part epoxy adhesive, which I find is very effective when the two joining surfaces are sub-optimal. The green stuff gap filling should also help secure the joint.

 

That takes care of the easy parts...

Here is my completed Marauder unit filler. It occupies 3X3 25mm bases, so it takes the place of 9 models. The pictures are not perfect, despite using my newly created light box and a tripod. I probably need a new camera, this digital camera is 10 years old and wasn't anywhere top of the line even back when it was new.

And here is the unit filler among his Marauder friends. The rest of the Marauders painted by my wife (I converted them to have a variety of great weapons). 9 of the Marauders in the back rank are armed with hand weapons + shields because they don't actually belong to this unit. I have a second unit filler to paint which will take up the remaining 9 spaces.

And obviously your wife is a bit quicker in painting than you are... judging from the number of painted models posted since I joined this board ...

You are not mistaken. Everyone is a faster painter than I am.

The problem for me is that I have never been truly pleased with my painting. It's not that I feel it is terrible, but it just doesn't meet my own personal expected standard. As a result I tend to paint less (you can't fail if you don't try ) or fruitlessly spend an inordinate amount of time trying (hopelessly) to get my model to that standard. Also, I won't lie... video games... the sweet sweet seductive caress of video games!

Thank you! Skeletor was clearly the source of inspiration for it! That's why I gave him a purple cape! It also helps make him stand out a bit more.

I agree. I keep telling her the same thing. She has some very nicely painted wood elf models. Admittedly though, as of the last few years, she hasn't painted very much (even I out painted her last year ). The last thing she painted was her entry into the Golden Serpent contest.

 

That.... and also that she isn't into Warhammer as much as we are!
