Hi

After I made my two Blood Bowl Blog I will combine my progress in all threads and make I central blog.

After I tried "normal" painting, priming, base colors, washes and dry brushing, I came to the conclusion thats I can do that but...

It's not my style, then I found comic style painting and directly fell in love. The idea that our all beloved minis jump right out a comic book is great for me and it underlines my blood bowl activity and its a great counter point for all the grim darkness.

I take nothing if this serious nether blood bowl nor 40k or AoS. Its all fun and games!

So I will post here my progresses in comic style painting and other stuff. Feel free to like, help, critisis or take ideas.

First post:

As wrote in the great 40k thread, I wanted to start with some Spass (german means fun) Marines.

The ideas is to make mix of 2D elements and 3 D elements. This Marine will be in front of Barrel while the base will be paintes with 2D elemts like rocks and grass. A little bit like toy story where the toys came alive, the mini here shall jump right out of the comic book and the surrding develops slowly from 2D to 3D

I really like this style! Reminds me of Borderlands almost. Really makes the model pop, and just looks so great.

I also made another star player for my lizardmen team. Because I don't want a dwarf in the team I made a withe Lizard instead a withe dwarf. I made with withe speedpaint Holy withe. Still don't like the result

How miserable Speedpaint for me works you on my sergeant space Marine. He looks so dirty or something

Don't misunderstand me, I like army painter, but speedpaint doesn't work for me. Maybe contrast paint works the same way but I never used them

Made some comic style skinks.20220521_220556.jpg

And some color scheme test for my female nun team. Learned something at the clothes of them. If make many short lines on it , it makes the colthes more "alive". What do you think which scheme is better ( ignore the withe lines on the black one. That was pen test)?20220521_220708.jpg

Left hand side for me.

Wow white is hard to paint, amazing work on those marines!

Also really like how those yellow skinks have turned out

Plans for my next project probably in October.

I planing on buying a the Slann team from Greebo games: https://www.greebo-games.com/35088-poraka-team-bundle.html

I like these mini a lot Because they remind me of my childhood looooonnnngggg ago. My wife asked my why some minis reminds me of that. I said because they look like Ninja Turtles! And there was the idea of how to paint them.

There are 4 positionals:
Big Guy shall have red armor
Blitzer shall have blue armor
Catcher shall have yellow armor
Linefrogs shall have purple armor

All will be comic style.

To be continued, kids woke:)

So off we go on:)

From here on I will collect some ideas for base design and other stuff for them.

- I think I will put them on 40mm bases. More space for design on the base. (Base size doesn't matter in blood bowl, only I therm of playability)

- I will use wood bases with sharp edges not the "normal" plastic thingies. Because it makes imo a better look and they are heavier so more stable in playing

so base design, hmmmm. Things I can draw on the base hmmm:
- pizza were important for the ninja turtles. So I will defently add some pieces

- they lived in the sewerage system. Maybe some manhole cover on the base?

Edit ideas:
- cracked ooze bottle

- the weapons of the turtels

- 2D football

- Trash can

What else? Any ideas of the swarm intelligens of lustria online?:)

Names for the frogs.

Like the turtles I will name them according to great painters and artists. I need 17 names
Name collection:
- Michelangelo
- Raphael
- Donatello
- Leonardo
:)
- Albrecht Dürer (AL)
- Vincent van Gogh (Vince)
- Pablo Picasso (Pablo)
- Claude Monet (Claude)
- Rembrant van Rijn ( Remy)
- Frida Kahlo (Fred, yes I know it was a woman)
- Jackson Pollock (Jack)
- Salvador Dali (Salvador)
- Paul Gaugin (Paul)
- Sandro Botticelli (Sandro)
- Edvard Munch (Edi)
- Peter Paul Rubens (Pet)

I like to add a second female one but I have no famous name in my mind. Any suggestions?

The old Ninja Turtles cartoon had the Punk Frogs:
Atilla the Frog- Wields a morningstar.
Genghis Frog- Wields an axe.
Napoleon Bonafrog- Wields a whip.
Rasputin the Mad Frog- Wields a bow and trick-arrows.

Maybe if you're feeling ambitious either have the coach be a Skaven with a purple robe (Splinter) or even make him a lineman.

There was also Slash, the bad turtle from the cartoon, Tokka the mutant turtle from the second movie, and Venus the girl turtle from the next mutation. And Mondo Gecko from the old cartoon as well.

No official crossover that I am aware of but the Battletoads, Rash, Pimple, and Zitz work as well:

Manhole covers and pizza are hilarious base ideas. Skate or surfboards may also be appropriate, though a good water effect for the surf boards is a bit tougher. Sewer scenes or bricks could also work.

Thought about that. Greebo has a Splinter mini https://www.greebo-games.com/2657-yosu-the-rat-master.html

But I think there is a special place on lustria online for people making Skaven commanding Slann;)

But I thought of a human cheerleader looking like April.

I know there are battletoads and the Frogs in the Cartoon but there is to less content to keep up the theme. But I will take the inspiration from the 90's Cartoon. Not from the CGE bulls... In the last year's.
