Obsinite

Obsinite is the material that the Lizardmen make their weapons from correct?
I made the connection to the Pre-Columbian weaponry made of Obsidian.

I read on page 23 of the Lizardmen army book about the Obsinite fluff - is there any other fluff? I wish to pain out the Lizardmen weapons to look like Obsinite should look. In the Warhammer FB rulebook I looked at the Lizardmen painted examples - all the internal parts of the weapons are black. On the Kroxigors the weapon pieces that are stone like are white. This makes me question what is more correct?

Anyone have suggestions? Painted examples?

There are some informations in old armybook, but it seems to be the same as in the new one.
Personally, I don't like the GW weapons. Especially the obsinite as a material for the "core" of the weapon. I prefer to make weapons of my lizzies to seem like this: LINK - there are obsinite (well, obsidian) edges or little blades, but the weapon itself is made of wood.
Sometimes I use "bone" on my models - another alternative of kinda more primitive weaponry (I mean some bony spikes on wooden core and such).

You can see it in the new book-they change obstinite. The old models have brown spears with black blades. The new ones (which do look better) are black spears with more of a metal color on the blade. So the ground is moving under your feet on what obstinite looks like.

GW also does tons of references to the real world, so the obstinite references here don't surprise me. My best suggestion is to decide what you think an outer worldly stone substance would look like and paint it accordingly.

I like painting the 'base' of the weapon as well as the blades/teeth of the weapons in black and the rest of the weapon in gold. I like those two colors together

i like the one GW shows but the black needs a skine to it so i think on blades a highlight of codex grey on one edge and a coat of gloss will make it look good, where as the clubs they just need the shine

I went for a slightly differnet approach and I use Kommando Khaki for the base of the weapon and the gold for the point bits. You can paint a line with black ink to give it more definition and then use gryphonne sepia ove the gold (its a wash they sell in GW)

but to be honest go with what you like / think looks good

You could try painting it as volcanic glass, but it's quite tricky.
