AoS Oh look, another newbie 1k cry for help

Am new, but with a lot of boring old models which currently limits my army building. Here is what I have and also what I'm thinking of making from it:

Heroes:
Slann
Skink Priest w. Cloak of Feathers
Astrolith Bearer
2x Oldbloods on foot

Battleline:
30 skinks w. blowpipes and shields
20 skinks w. blowpipes and clubs
10 skinks w. javelins and shields
20 saurus warriors w. clubs
10 saurus warriors w. spears
20 saurus guard

Proposed list:

Slann (incandescent retrices, vast intellect)
Astrolith

Am I making the best of what I have, with trying to go for a heavy summoning list at 1k? I have heard saurus are rubbish now have never played AoS, first game tomorrow....

Your list looks great for what you own.

Thanks for the speedy reply! That's good to hear, will test them tomorrow and report back I imagine most of the issues will be me making mistakes.

I wanted to switch out the balewind and guard for 10 skinks and 3 razordons (990pts compared to 1000) but 3 razordons are batshit expensive.

Razordons are amazing and prohibitively expensive.

Check out the Seraphon Lists Thread in my signature. There is an Eternal Starhost 1k list that are fairly close to being able to build.

I was shook. Don't know how prices compare between the UK and the states, nice to know the shafting is a worldwide phenomenon.

Thanks for that, had a nice look in there and I like the look of lots of the lists I wasn't sure if battalions at 1k was worth it, but seems like yes?

Thanks @LizardWizard for the advice, as promised here is my post game feedback. Faced some high elves, there was a repeater bolt thrower ( don't know the AoS name) intent on sniping the slann but starlight, look out sir, the balewind, gift of the heavens and eventually retrices told it to shove off.

Played scorched earth and I won by a narrow 2 points and had some of the most fun I've ever had in a game
