Other Wargames Manufacturers News: Surely not... a Jurassic Park miniatures game?

Finally Mantic have given their first shots of painted versions of their upcoming new Skeleton Warriors and Horsemen:

I'm pleased to see the weapon hafts look thinner now compared to the renders we saw back in January, as I was hoping. Perhaps the weapon heads are still slightly reminiscent of those of the 6th Edition GW plastics, but they are no worse and could easily be trimmed down if one wished. Without a doubt these look much better than the naked GW ones.

The only concern is the barding on the steeds, which wouldn't fit the 8th Edition rules, but the video below shows that the side plates come separate from the bodies so that they largely look no different from existing conversions based on Hexwraith horse bodies:

And this is just the start it appears, with more news appearing this week and beyond as new Legions of Khemri approach Pre-Order!

I love the look of these, much more going on than the old, mostly bear bones, GW models

Grrr, Imrahil

But.....but that's the point. Skeleton warriors are supposed to be bone, with a few scraps of cloth or armor, maybe a helmet.

That being said, I'll give both the infantry and cavalry a shot. As I do all undead kits on the market.

Vampire Counts ones, yes, given they are mostly poor peasants or militia, who had little to begin with and were buried in damp earth where their clothing could easily rot away, forced to fight against their will by a Necromancer or Vampire, but Tomb Kings Skeletons are hardened soldiers, likely buried with all their arms and armour, in desert tombs where the sands would do a lot more to preserve the perishable items they wear, who rise by their own free will to serve their king in battle.

It's curious to see you objecting so hard to these when GW's new Vampire Skeletons arguably suffer from the flaws you describe far worse (and indeed are more like Grave Guard than standard Skeletons, as ordinary Skeletons would never be that well-armoured):

I dislike those new skeletons for use as bog standard skeleton warriors because they are so armored. And because GW is still bad at providing femurs that don't snap during assembly.

I've released the latest from Forest Dragon on my webstore. You can now truly build the tiny saurus legion of your dreams.

This month the Dire elves see squadrons of heavy cavalry take the field, while opposing them are reptilian cavalry and a reptilian priest casting a spell.

I've begun speaking with Mantic about getting a trade account set up.

Mcdougall Designs will initially be carrying a limited range of mantic products at somewhere between a 15-20% discount off RRP, although I can happily discuss special orders for anything that doesn't make it to my webstore.

Initial thoughts were kings of war, some warpath/firefight, and armada. What would you all like to see available?

Empire of Dust/Tomb Kings, Abyssal Dwarfs/Chaos Dwarfs, standard Goblins and any other Mantic alternatives for fan-favourite armies not currently supported by GW would be popular without a doubt!

(Apologies only just got to replying to this now, just after you've already made your first stock order )

Not at all a problem.

I've opted for a small line of in stock items, while offering the remaining catalog as special orders at the standard 20% rate, you would just have to email me.

and yes I can take empire of dust orders for the july release. currently just the army and mega army sets.

10mm dire elves spearmen on sale for $5 per regiment pack.

also, mantic have shown concept images for two EoD monsters. Probably resin.

The Monolith of course will have no use in a Tomb Kings army, but looks nice as a Nehekharan scenery piece, particularly as an objective for a thematic game where the Tomb Kings are trying to power it up and the opposing faction has to destroy it.

Now the Idol on the other hand will make an excellent Colossus... and possibly a Hierotitan if there are alternative options or if someone is willing to convert it.

Reminds me I have to paint this still. EDIT: holy crap bad photo. oops. Anywho, yea the monolith is defo a terrain piece. The idol might be for me as well, depending on the pose and sculpting.
