Overgrown engine of the gods idea

Hello!
I've recently been lucky enough to sell my engine of the gods (I weren't happy with the paint job and therefor wanted to redo it).

Now I'm getting close to redoing it, but I want to make it overgrown/Decayed or lost.

I have posted, some pictures of a base I've bad, I wanted to make it in the same style, any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks! I'm not really looking for basing ideas but rather having the decaying/overgrown things from the base translated to my engine of the gods

Most of techniques used to make overgrown bases will work on the model itself. You might need to soak any softer vines or foliage material with watered down PVA glue to give them some strength and protection though so they can be handled for gaming.

Do you have any idea for how to make vines been looking at options, and haven't been able to find anything that looks like jungle vines

I've used GW's Creeping Vines for this purpose before, they're made of flexible plastic. I've seen people use bits of moss and other plants that they've collected from nature, they generally need drying out a bit and would need to be coated with a water/pva mix (or water/mod podge etc.) to protect them. Some people sculpt their own out of green stuff too. Green stuff would give you the most control over vine placement and design but is definitely more work.

Okay I'll looking into the Gw ones, but they seem rather expensive for what they provide, as for green stuff I havent worked with it yet(have a small amount at home from a buddy but might give it a go assuming it's simply to lay a small "snake" on top of the base and paint it brown ish?)

Thanks! I will give green stuff a go later, the next time I might a larger base, to see how it turns out

For dead leaves or similar effects many people seem to use tea leaves.

triceratops skeleton stuck in the mud... and the engine collapsed on top of it! really lean into it

for vines: coconut fibers (the stuff from peoples planter baskets), spray on glue, and dried oregano. then airbrush it or spray paint etc.
