Painting Question

Hey all,
Quick out of the blue question here.....anyone know how to do artic/ frozen/snowy/wasteland bases?

There is a ton of ways to do it, some people base with sand and then paint it white. some people I've heard use baking soda glued right onto the base. I also think GW and other hobby comapies makes some sort of snow for basing.
