Painting rules for Tourney

Is there a rule your army has to have a uniformed color scheme for a tourney? I was curious because I want to paint each of my units a different color scheme (total 4 schemes) but I am worried that it would be a nono in tourneys and end up just wasting my time painting them different colors.

No you can paint your models however you want. The only rule I ever heard is you have to have at least 3 colors (or shades), and your base has to be done up, at least flocked. This is wahammer tournament rules so if they take pictures their product looks good.

I heard that there had to be at least 6 different colors on the model. I have no idea whether this includes the base or not.

Just curious, where in the world do you get this info from?

I got my info from talking to the people about a tournament at my local GW, which if anyone really wants to know for sure should do also, for there may be difference for different shops.
