The heptagram is quite old and a symbol of Druids, among others. Also in Islam, Christianity, Wicca and half a dozen others.
So I am not sure why Game of Thrones should be the first thing that comes to mind...
(Or why it should be wrong)

Edit: btw. The P&P RPG "The Dark Eye" uses it for dark magic, while using the pentagram for normal magic.

Edit2: the one in the picture is an astrological one it seems, it has the "planet" symbols on it. Could also represent week days, they sometimes do that.
